Coach Development Clinic Host Information

USA Lacrosse Coach Development Clinics are hosted jointly by USA Lacrosse and local leagues or programs. All coach development in person clinic requests are reviewed and scheduled according to the percentage of untrained member-coaches in the vicinity surrounding the requested location.

Due to the lead time needed to make the training day successful, each clinic must be planned for well in advance. We are currently planning for fall 2021. Spring, 2022 planning will begin in November, 2021.

All local and national protocols with respect to the covid-19 pandemic must be followed, including masking and social distancing requirements. USA Lacrosse will also limit workshop capacity as needed to adhere to covid-19 best practices.

The general hosting process is as follows:

  • Organization decides to host and reaches out to their USA Lacrosse Regional Manager with the requested date, clinic type, time, and anticipated number of coaches.
  • Organization locates a site. Site should be reserved upon approval of “save the date” by USA Lacrosse.
  • Organization submits a site information to USA Lacrosse. (Regional manager will provide the submission link).
  • USA Lacrosse will build event registration and send local host link to review.
  • Once reviewed, clinic marketing begins
    • USA Lacrosse will schedule and send up to 3 e-blasts per clinic
    • Local marketing should be done via social media channels and personal outreach
  • USA Lacrosse will communicate registration updates as they become available
  • USA Lacrosse will assign trainers
  • USA Lacrosse will connect trainers to local host (approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the event)
  • Local host and trainers plan the training day
  • Clinic is held
  • Local host reports back to USA Lacrosse who attended
  • USA Lacrosse gives credit to coaches who attended and sends a thank you notice

When submitting the request for a coach development clinic, please consider the following:

  • Timing according to the start of the season (will your coaches be identified, have current USA Lacrosse coach memberships, and be able to register at least two weeks prior to the training date?)
  • Meets USA Lacrosse’s current hosting criteria, including:
    • Site specifications (indoor sites are recommended. Is the environment conducive to learning?)
    • Type of clinics requested (i.e. two or more clinics back-to-back are ideal)
    • Availability of coaches and trainers (i.e. no other major local events, lacrosse or otherwise, are occurring simultaneously)
    • Event follow up: will coaches be encouraged or required to follow through with their full certification?

As clinics are approved, local clinic hosts will be notified. For more details on hosting and to request a link to submit a clinic, please connect with your USA Lacrosse Regional Manager.
