Program Leaders
There’s a popular saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Schuyler Horn, founder and executive director of the Lacrosse the Bay (LTB) youth program in Monterey, California, has no problem with that philosophy. After all, one of LTB’s most successful initiatives, its K-2 introductory experience for the youngest kids, came from flag football.
USA Lacrosse will lead the efforts behind the 5th Annual National Celebrate Lacrosse Week from November 1-9, 2025. As usual, Pick Up & Play clinics designed to introduce new players to the sport will be a big part of the celebration.
These clinics are designed to engage young athletes by:
Giving them a hands-on experience with lacrosse in a fun, low-pressure environment
SPARKS, Md. – USA Lacrosse’s investment in age verification provides a valuable resource for the lacrosse community to facilitate fair and safer play. For USA Lacrosse members, this is a free, one-time process in which they upload a valid proof of age document and their record will be updated to indicate age verified status.
Leagues and tournaments around the country can then work with USA Lacrosse — also free of charge — to utilize the service to appropriately segment players by age groupings.
SPARKS, Md. – Following an extensive review of similar entities in the athletic space, USA Lacrosse has announced the structure of the Lacrosse Equipment Council (LEC). The formation of the LEC was announced in late 2024 and the group will focus on the development, evaluation, and selection of standards and testing protocols to certify lacrosse equipment while monitoring and assessing the impact of equipment on player performance and safety.
SPARKS, Md. – Stephanie Mullette, a mission-driven business leader with over 15 years of success in the private sector and not-for-profit world, recently joined the staff of USA Lacrosse as Vice President, Membership and Regional Growth.
It’s no secret that residents of Iowa know how to grow things. The state ranks first in the nation in beef, pork, corn, soybean and grain production.
Chad Gano, president of Waukee Lacrosse in Iowa, is passionate about also growing lacrosse in America’s heartland. He wants to expose the game to as many kids as possible within a fun, competitive, and positive environment.
The West Hills High School boys’ lacrosse program, like many other recent start-ups in California, is on the fast track. Launched in 2022, West Hills became a full CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) member the following year and has advanced to the Division III championship in each of the past two seasons.
Growing up in the Bronx, the harsh realities of Muhammed Krubally’s environment included violence, gangs, and crime. The opportunities and temptations to go down the wrong path were easy and plentiful. But for a chance encounter with former Tufts University player Dan Leventhal when Krubally was 11 years old, he may have been victim to those realities.
“It was during recess when I was in the sixth grade and Dan was playing Wall Ball,” Krubally recounts. “Dan saw in me what others overlooked – my potential as a student and an athlete.”
While rare, there’s still the possibility that serious injuries could occur during lacrosse practices or games, just like in other sports. As such, Local Lacrosse Organizations (LLOs) and tournament operators must ensure the preparedness of their organization for handling emergency situations.
It is important that administrators, staff, and coaches are prepared to respond to emergency situations, and a key step in preparing for emergencies involves the development of an Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
