In what could be the first of several cancellations over the course of the next several days as the opening weekend of the Division I lacrosse season nears, Navy announced Wednesday that its season-opener against High Point on Saturday in Annapolis has been called off due to frigid temperatures.

Navy and High Point are not expected to reschedule the game.

The weather forecast Saturday calls for low-20s temperatures and winds that could make it feel like single digits in Annapolis.

Several other teams hosting games this weekend have already made changes to accomodate the forecast.

Saturday changes

  • Bellarmine at Duke has been moved to Monday
  • UMass at Army moved indoors
  • Providence at Holy Cross moved indoors
  • Mercyhurst at Michigan moved indoors to Adrian, Mich.
  • Queens at Mount St. Mary's location switched to Charlotte and game moved to Sunday
  • Manhattan at Bucknell moved to Sunday

Sunday changes

  • Colgate at Penn State moved indoors
  • Detroit Mercy at Ohio State moved indoors
