Chloe Humphrey is the 2025 Tewaaraton Award winner as the best women’s lacrosse player in the country, as announced Thursday night during the Tewaaraton Award ceremony at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
She is the first female freshman to be named a finalist for the award. Humphrey led North Carolina to its first national championship in three seasons and its fourth in program history. She scored four goals with one assist in the Tar Heels’ 12-8 win over Northwestern in the championship game.
Humphrey finished the spring with 90 goals, 28 assists and 28 ground balls. She scored a season-high seven goals in North Carolina’s 20-4 win over Florida in the semifinals. Humphrey was named the IWLCA Player and Attacker of the Year on Wednesday.
She broke the Tar Heels’ single-season goals record (83) during the win over Florida, a record previously held by Jamie Ortega. Humphrey also broke the single-season goals record by a freshman in Division I, which was previously held by Maryland’s Karri Ellen Johnson.
The other finalists included her sister, North Carolina attacker Ashley Humphrey, Boston College attacker Rachel Clark, Boston College goalie Shea Dolce and Northwestern attacker Madison Taylor.
