The Mules are still kicking.
Colby withstood a furious late flurry from Wesleyan to win 7-6 and punch its ticket to the NCAA Division III women's lacrosse semifinals, which will be played Friday, March 23, in Salem, Va.
Up 7-3 when Gennie Littlejohn scored with 12:24 left in the game, Colby had to rely on its defense to preserve the lead. Wesleyan, though, made it close.
Dylan Green and Sam DeLeo scored within a minute of each to make it 7-5 with 7:20 left to play, then after a few minutes of scoreless play, Mya Waryas deposited one with 43 seconds left to make it 7-6.
Wesleyan won the next draw, but Gisele Uva caused a turnover and picked up the ground ball, allowing Colby to hang on.
A three-goal run to begin the fourth quarter snapped a tie at 5 and lifted Tufts to the semifinals.
Emma Joyce and Madeline Delaney scored 22 seconds apart to make it 7-5, then Allie Zorn tacked on another less than 90 seconds later for an 8-5 lead.
Audrey Harrington buried a goal for Salisbury with 8:30 left to cut the deficit to 8-6, but the Sea Gulls couldn't score again until Harrington found Lauren Hackett with 12 seconds to go.
In need of a last-ditch effort to tie things at 8, Salisbury won the final draw of the game but could not offer a shot.
