North Carolina, Stanford and Maryland seem to have established themselves as the firm Nos. 1-3 in the USA Lacrosse Division I Women's Top 20, presented by CWENCH Hydration — at least for the time being.

Several teams are still establishing where they stand, or — better yet — where they should stand. By virtue of Colorado's loss to Stony Brook and Northwestern's win over Stony Brook a few days later, the Wildcats are up to No. 4. Perhaps that's roughly where they should have been all along, but an early loss to the Buffaloes needed to be reflected in the ranks.

Just past Northwestern is Navy, which checks in at No. 5 after beating Florida in Annapolis. Navy has answered every challenge thus far, and as a result, Cindy Timchal is knocking on the door of 600 career wins.

The aforementioned Seawolves are also a notable mover, up to No. 8, while Penn State is plodding along with a 6-0 record at No. 12.

Two new teams join the fray this week — Georgetown (No. 16) and Temple (No. 19).
