All-American goalie Jenika Cuocco announced last week that she will be transferring from Drexel to Northwestern for the 2026 season, marking the second significant transfer addition by the NCAA runner up since the season ended less than a month ago.
Cuocco joins former James Madison All-American Maddie Epke, an attacker and draw specialist, and graduate defender Annabel Child (Harvard) in Northwestern’s transfer class.
It’s early, but it appears as if Northwestern will be this summer’s portal winner. Olivia Adamson remains the top prize available, and there are surely several head coaches who would love to add the attacker to the mix. Perhaps she will head back to Syracuse with new head coach Regy Thorpe on the sideline, but she’ll have options aplenty.
While there aren’t many more players in the portal that are quite the caliber of Adamson, Cuocco or Epke, teams have still been loading up on the talent that’s available.
Here are a few notes on some of the more interesting moves of the offseason, according to the Inside Lacrosse transfer tracker.
Perhaps one of the more underrated players in the portal, Callaghan started every game over three years with Cincinnati, compiling 152 goals and 30 assists with the Bearcats. The attacker from Upper Arlington, Ohio, is taking her talents to Ohio State, which started 2025 off strong before fading down the stretch. Callaghan was a USA Lacrosse honorable mention All-American in 2024.
Mel Josephson remains the incumbent in the cage for Virginia, but Sonia LaMonica picked up some competition in the form Finnelle, the goalie who helped Florida reach championship weekend in 2025. Finnelle boasts a career save percentage of 46.2 and can help stabilize Virginia between the pipes, where the Cavs saved 40.9 percent of shots last year.
Maryland is adding some firepower in the form of Penn graduate Keeley Block, an attacker with 93 career goals and 45 career assists on her ledger. Offense came in spurts for the Terps in 2025, so Block figures to be an impactful addition.
In its first year as an NCAA program, Florida State will boast a roster featuring transfers excited to take a shot in Tallahassee. As of Wednesday, June 18, here are the nine players on the move:
Kenny DeJohn has been the Digital Content Editor at USA Lacrosse since 2019. First introduced to lacrosse in 2016 as a Newsday Sports reporter on Long Island (yes, ON Long Island), DeJohn specializes in women's game coverage. His search for New York quality pizza in Baltimore is ongoing.
