All eight quarterfinalists from last year’s NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship advanced to the third round of this year’s tournament with wins on Sunday, but one newcomer to the Sweet 16 is Rowan, which is playing in the tournament for the first time since 2018.

Rowan extended its school record for wins in a season to 16 with a 20-5 victory over Western Connecticut State in the tournament’s second round behind a record-breaking day from junior Elaina Corson.

Corson scored a school-record 10 goals, breaking the mark of nine set by Allie Dickie in 2011 and matched by Becca Wood in 2013. Corson scored her 10 goals on just 12 shots and added a pair of assists, giving her an even 100 points for the season.

Rowan will meet Wesleyan in the third round on Saturday, bidding to reach the NCAA quarterfinals for the first time since 1999.

Salisbury’s Jim Nestor picked up the 500th win of his career in the Seagulls 9-8 win over Haverford. Audrey Harrington scored the game-winning goal with just seven seconds left.

Colorado College’s loss to Pomona-Pitzer marks the end of Susan Stuart’s fantastic coaching career. Paul Ohanian profiled her earlier this spring for USA Lacrosse Magazine.

William Smith overcame an early four-goal deficit and edged Amherst 13-12 on Bridget Finley’s goal with 3:37 to play. It was the Herons first win over Amherst after losing in the previous four contests.
