With conference playoffs right around the corner, most of the top teams in the nation took care of business over the past week in Division III.
TCNJ faced a big test and rose to the occasion, beating both Stockton and Rowan. The Lions’ two star offensive players shined brightly. Ally Tobler had five goals and three assists against Stockton and three goals and two assists against Rowan, while Marissa Lucca had five goals and four assists against Stockton and six goals and one assist against Rowan.
Stevens won two games as well, extending its April unbeaten streak to eight. The Ducks scored 24 goals against Delaware Valley, and astonishingly, 20 of them were assisted — led by Anna Velardi, who had seven.
St. John Fisher ended the regular season undefeated with 20-goal victories over Keuka and Hartwick. Sophomore Chelsea Lopata tied her season-best in points against Keuka with two goals and four assists and then set a new mark when she scored two goals with seven assists against Hartwick.
The NESCAC tournament began, and Wesleyan came away with a big overtime victory over Amherst, 11-10. Dylan Green led the Cardinals with three goals, the last of which was the winner.
Outside the Top 20, Norwich’s victory over Dean College in the GNAC tournament quarterfinals helped them set a program record for wins in a season (15) and reach the tournament semifinals for the first time since 2014. Breanna Ricker was instrumental in that success. Against Dean, she led the team in points (five), ground balls (four), caused turnovers (three) and draw controls (five). In two games last week, she totaled five goals, two assists, eight ground balls, six caused turnovers and 11 draw controls.
