USA Lacrosse Unveils WCLA All-Americans, Players of the Year

One day after USA Lacrosse unveiled the WCLA Division I and Division II Preseason Top 20 rankings, the top players in the WCLA world are now being honored as All-Americans — and a select few as preseason players of the year at their respective positions.

WCLA DIVISION I
PRESEASON PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

Preseason Player/Attacker of the Year — Kayleigh Paige, Georgia

Paige had team highs of 65 goals and 102 points for the high-octane Bulldogs’ offense last year, helping Georgia reach the national semifinals. The senior had six games with six or more goals, including a season-high seven goals in an early season win over eventual national champion Boston College.

Preseason Midfielder of the Year — Talitha Cheng, UCLA

Cheng is one of the most dynamic players in the country, using great speed and quickness to make an impact all over the field. With 27 goals and team highs of 48 draw controls and 41 ground balls, she helped lead 2024 champion UCLA back to the national championship game in 2025.

Preseason Defender of the Year — Alex Young, Georgia

Coming off an All-American junior season, Young is the top returning defender in the country. Last year, she partnered with fellow All-American defender Skylar DeLuca to give Georgia a formidable defensive duo. Since DeLuca graduated, Young is now the veteran anchor for the Bulldogs’ backline.

Preseason Goalie of the Year — Jordyn Salbe, Florida

Salbe is coming off an All-American season, as she helped lead the Gators to their fourth straight championship tournament appearance and an eventual seventh-place finish. She registered a .553 save percentage with 126 saves in 13 games played, including a career-best 18-save performance in a win over Auburn.

PRESEASON PLAYERS OF THE YEAR

Preseason Attacker of the Year — Emma Flynn, Denver

Flynn serves as the quarterback for Denver’s offense, which tallied 13 goals or better seven times last year. As the primary feeder, she led the Pioneers in assists as Denver returned to the championship tournament for the 11th time, the most appearances among Division II programs.

Preseason Player/Midfielder of the Year — Eleah Ho, Montana State

Ho was one of the main cogs during a breakthrough season for the Bobcats, who earned their first national tournament appearance and advanced to the championship game. The do-everything Ho led Montana State in draw controls (48) and ground balls (33) while also finishing second in scoring with 25 goals and 35 points.

Preseason Defender of the Year — Madeline Monteleone, Florida Atlantic

A returning All-American, Monteleone has helped lead FAU to national tournament appearances the past two years, including a fourth-place finish in last year’s event. She finished second on the team in ground balls and takeaways, helping the Owls build a nine-game winning streak at one point.

Preseason Goalie of the Year — Ellyce Davis, Montana State

This returning All-American anchored Montana State’s defense, averaging nine saves per game and posting a .599 save percentage. She had some of her strongest showings in the season’s biggest games, recording a season-high 15 saves in the league championship against Boise State and 13 saves against CSU San Marcos in the national championship game.
