The York women’s lacrosse team made the biggest jump in this week’s USA Lacrosse Division III Women’s Top 20.
Two victories, including one over No. 7 Washington and Lee, propelled York five places up the Top 20. Junior midfielder Sydney Mentzer led the team with four points (2G, 2A) and senior attacker Gianna Huet scored a game-high three goals. Goalie Bella Garabo, a graduate student, made 11 saves.
Chicago joins the Top 20 with a pair of weekend victories, including an overtime thriller against Colorado College. Freshman Kailee See scored the winning goal, which also happened to be her first college score.
In a matchup of top-five teams, Gettysburg outlasted Salisbury in another overtime finish.
