2. Team USA assistant Jess Wilk was honored with the FIL Spirit of Lacrosse Award during the FIL World Cup closing ceremonies over the weekend. Wilk, who played in four World Cup and served on staffs in three others, was one of 25 recipients, with one coming from each country that participated.
Wilk, a National Lacrosse Hall of Fame member, has been part of the U.S. national team program for over 26 years.
“She connects the past and the present, all the while asking us to look to the future,” the current U.S. team wrote of Wilk. “She challenges us to be approachable role models for the next generation of U.S. team players by carrying ourselves with class.”

3. Adam Jones is headed to Toronto in a blockbuster NLL trade. The star lefty, who scored 26 goals and added 31 assists in his only season with the Saskatewan Rush, was traded to the Toronto Rock in exchange for first-round draft picks in 2018 and 2019. The move bolsters a Rock left side that was lacking last season, and gives the Rush three first-round picks in 2018 and 2019.
“We have made no bones about it and felt we needed to improve our left side,” Toronto president and general manager Jamie Dawick said in a press release. “The opportunity to acquire one of the best lefties in the game doesn’t come along too often and it comes at a price. Adam is a special player and makes us a better team, which is why we made this trade and gave up those assets.”
Jones came to the Rush from the Colorado Mammoth, where he had seasons of 51 and 42 goals. He said he was excited to play for his home team — Jones grew up in Owen Sound, Ontario, less than three hours from Toronto.
