Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Lacrosse’s return to the field has been held up in some states due to the sport, specifically boys’ lacrosse, being grouped as a “high risk” activity. The US Lacrosse Sports Science & Safety Committee disagrees with this classification and the organization is advocating on behalf of its members to have those states reexamine their decision.
2. A couple of interesting thoughts and observations from Stony Brook head women’s lacrosse coach Joe Spallina, also a Team USA assistant, as it relates to COVID-19 protections. His ultimate thought — “Find ways, not excuses.”
Some observations with @StonyBrookWLAX in house scrimmages. 1.Keeping players on sideline separated is tough with a just a few subs on each team. Think possibility of opposite sidelines is VERY real in the spring with full squads from diff schools.

3. A summer tournament incident helped fuel support for US Lacrosse’s new anti-harassment and discrimination policy.
Canisius men’s lacrosse coach Mark Miyashita, a British Columbia native who became a dual Canada-U.S. citizen in 2017, was one of the first-time presidential voters profiled in this story in the Buffalo News.
With only freshmen on campus, Harvard’s men’s lacrosse coaching staff is using the opportunity to take a deep dive on small group instruction. Matt Kinnear of Inside Lacrosse shares the story.
On Lax All Stars, Buffalo Bandits star Dhane Smith shares his connection to the city and franchise, through his cousin’s time with the Bandits.
A sad story from Ohio where Rhiannon Osborne, a junior girls' lacrosse player at Lebanon High school, died unexpectedly on Saturday.
Syracuse men's lacrosse commit Joey Spallina is featured on Sports Illustrated's All-Syracuse site.
Chad Surman recently had the interim tag removed from his title and is now the head men's lacrosse coach at Mercer. Patrick Stevens checks in with the program.
