Heavyweight battles littered last week’s Division II men’s lacrosse slate, with Le Moyne, Tampa, UIndy and Limestone all picking up ranked wins to separate from the pack — at least temporarily.
The defending national champions followed its win over No. 2 Wingate with a one-goal victory over then-No. 6 Mercyhurst. The Lakers had chances to tie it in the final minutes but could not find an equalizer in a game that counts as a loss but is nonetheless impressive.
Limestone continued its surge by taking down Lindenwood, which recently announced its plans to reclassify to Division I.
Another busy week down, but not a tremendous amount of movement after the dust has settled.

The Tars have won four straight games to begin their season, getting by a test from Lynn over the weekend in which Rollins had a big lead and held on late. With wins over Florida Tech and Palm Beach Atlantic, Rollins is looking like Florida’s best team not named Tampa.

What is still an impressive start to the season hit a speed bump in a 12-goal loss to Mercyhurst last Monday. The Flyers struggled against one of the better defenses in Division II, scoring just two goals in the first half.

Florida Southern (No. 17)
Already six games into the season, Florida Southern owns a win over Belmont Abbey and a one-goal loss to a Limestone team that looks like a national title contender. The Mocs are averaging just under 22 goals per game in wins and just eight goals per game in losses.

Frostburg (was No. 14)
The Bobcats kicked off their season with a 14-11 loss to a previously winless Lake Erie team. Not the way Frostburg wanted to begin the year, but a matchup with Tampa this weekend could help right the ship.
