Ava Meyn Named USA Lacrosse High School Girls' Northeast Player of the Year

June 26, 2025

Whenever Ava Meyn steps on a lacrosse field, she separates herself from the pack.

“Ava is the most athletic player on any field. Her speed, strength, and athleticism were on full display each and every game,” Bayport-Blue Point coach Ryan Gick said. “She has been a dominant player for us on the draw circle all year and has had a nose for the net since day one.

“Her leadership has been exceptional all year, and she has stepped up in huge moments for us throughout the year. Her desire and leadership have been one of the main reasons for our team success.”

The senior midfielder earned USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ Northeast Player of the Year honors after playing a starring role in a run to a second New York State Class C title for Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.) in three years.

Meyn, ranked No. 10 in the Class of 2025 by Inside Lacrosse, was half of the Phantoms' dynamic duo along with fellow senior Aubrie Eisfeld. In Bayport-Blue Point’s 21-1 season, Meyn had 65 goals, 19 assists, and 116 draw controls, making sure the possession pendulum favored the Phantoms.

The Maryland commit, a two-time All-American, finished her stellar high school career with 174 goals, 68 assists, and 278 draw controls.

Players of the year, all-region teams and rankings are compiled by USA Lacrosse Magazine writers with input from coaches around the country.

NORTHEAST TOP 10
(FINAL)

1. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), 17-0

Six consecutive NSCHSAA titles, a second straight undefeated season atop the USA Lacrosse national rankings. Things are good at St. Anthony’s. So while Molly Hiney (Johns Hopkins), Julia May O’Connor (Syracuse), and Kat Rathjen (Florida State) will be missed, leading scorer Emma Speed (Florida), Anna Christie (Northwestern), and Sophia Novelli (Vanderbilt) will hope to extend the 48-game winning streak.

2. Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.), 21-1

There is no replacing generational talents like Ava Meyn (Maryland) and Aubrie Eisfeld (Clemson), who helped Bayport-Blue Point win a second New York State Class C title in three years. Kailey Bruckner (Towson), Olivia Brady, Payton Weybrecht (Cortland), Shannon Carney, and Abigail Bishop will hope to keep BBP contenders next year.

3. Phillips Andover (Mass.), 20-2

A big reason why Phillips Andover won the Prep Cup championship was the play of underclassmen, like goalie Maddie Greenwood and defenders Quiana Bell and Lola Aguirre, as well as Ashley Dimnaku and Emma Morrison on the draw.

4. Sacred Heart-Greenwich (Conn.), 16-3

Do-it-all Charley Bacigalupo (Notre Dame) and Daphne Fallon (Georgetown) will be difficult to replace. But Mackenna Kelly (Richmond) is set to anchor the defense, and 2028 attack Peyla Carcaterra is poised for stardom.

5. Darien (Conn.), 20-2

The Blue Wave celebrated a 21st state title with All-American Quinn Kennedy (Richmond) anchoring the defense and Hope Hapgood (Dartmouth) and Caleigh Cummiskey (Bucknell) providing senior leadership. But with Anna Von Kennel (Florida), who was named an All-American and was the leading scorer with 47 goals and 41 assists, returning for her senior season, Darien should again be among the nation’s elite.

6. Nyack (N.Y.), 19-1

After helping put Nyack on the national map, Kate Gould is off to Yale, but there are plenty of other Goulds to ensure the RedHawks stay there. Sisters Ella (Michigan), Abby, and Jane, as well as cousin Maya, are back, joined by All-American midfielder Casey Cummings (Syracuse) for a team that should again be a state championship contender.

7. Noble & Greenough (Mass.), 20-3

Caroline McCullough (Duke), Emerson Midura (Harvard), Hadley Laughlin (Notre Dame), and Rory Taylor (Boston College) were all instrumental in leading Nobles to a fourth straight ISL championship. Ava Newman (Notre Dame) and Beatrice Trinque (Richmond) will help lead the drive to five.

8. Victor (N.Y.), 18-4

The Blue Devils made it four straight state titles after defeating Garden City (N.Y.) in the New York State Class B final. All-American defender Brin Gotham is off to Michigan and Maia Pronti (Georgetown) and Morgan Livingston (Arizona State) will also be missed, but McKenna Anderson (Arizona State), Mia Finocchario (Canisius) and Allie Pisano return for Victor.

9. Penfield (N.Y.), 18-3

It was a banner season for Penfield, which celebrated a first-ever state title following a 9-3 win over Suffern in the Class A final. All-American attack Peyton Rothfuss (Florida), Riley Corcoran (Arizona State), and Avery Fordham, who had four goals and six ground balls in the championship game, all return for the Patriots.

10. Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.), 19-3

Ryan Reynolds (Maryland), Maya Soskin (Florida), who made a New York State record 723 saves as a five-year starter, and Maggie Spehr (Middlebury) played starring roles for Cold Spring Harbor, which captured a second straight state title and fourth in the last six years. Those will be big shoes to fill.
