MID-ATLANTIC
Sofia Gagliardi, Episcopal (Pa.)
An incredible three-sport athlete, Gagliardi got her final season at Episcopal off to a great start, and helped the Churchwomen also start fast. The speedy midfielder, who was the Inter-Ac MVP for girls soccer in the fall and has run indoor track and field, opened her senior year of lacrosse with four goals and an assist, four draws, two ground balls, a caused turnover and an interception in a 12-9 win over John Carroll (Md.). She followed it up with a hat trick and assist, three draws, two ground balls and a caused turnover in a 17-2 win over Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.). Gagliardi was the team’s second leading scorer a year ago. She is committed to Maryland for lacrosse.
Also notable: Sydney DeMaio, St. Mary’s (Md.), Ava Fossati, McDonogh (Md.); Maeve Irish, Episcopal (Pa.); Parker Kitchel, McDonogh (Md.)
SOUTH
Giselle Jaskiewicz, Lake Highland (Fla.)
Despite being a sophomore, Jaskiewicz is already playing the role of a crafty veteran. After seeing action as a seventh-grader, Jaskiewicz has steadily increased her offensive output. Last week, the midfielder led Lake Highland to a trio of wins, with three goals versus Bishop Moore (Fla.), four goals against Community School of Naples (Fla.) and six tallies versus Cambridge (Fla.).
Also notable: Candace Carver, Sunlake (Fla.); Jillian Murphy, Anderson (Texas); Elizabeth Thomas, Spain Park (Ala.)
WEST
Kat Dykes, Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.)
Dykes delivered a commanding offensive performance in a key matchup against Cathedral Catholic (Calif.), scoring six goals and adding an assist to power Sacred Heart Prep’s attack. The Virginia commit consistently created scoring opportunities around the cage, using her size, speed and attacking instincts to keep the Gators’ offense rolling. She also contributed in other phases of the game, controlling two draws and helping dictate possession when her team needed it most.
Dykes continues to establish herself as one of the most dynamic attackers in the West Region. A multidimensional player with the ability to slash to the net, see the field and shoot confidently from range, she has expanded her offensive game to include a quick release off the dodge and a dangerous outside shot on the run. Those traits were on full display this week as her scoring touch and playmaking helped spark Sacred Heart Prep’s early-season momentum.
Also notable: Cristina Arellanes, Redondo Union (Calif.); Leni Marchetti, Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.); Phoebe Oliven, St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.); Kaija Walcott, St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.)
