Jenna Lundstedt Named USA Lacrosse High School Girls' South Player of the Year
Leading Cambridge (Ga.) to its second straight state championship, Jenna Lundstedt has been named the USA Lacrosse High School Girls' South Player of the Year.
A senior midfielder, Lundstedt had 36 goals, 11 assists, 284 draw controls, 43 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers, showing her versatility on the field.
The Bears finished the season ranked No. 1 in the USA Lacrosse South Top 10 (annotated below) and No. 17 in the USA Lacrosse National Top 25. Midfielder Kylie Stitcher joins Lundstedt on the USA Lacrosse All-South Team (listed below).
For the first time in program history, Cambridge defeated rival Milton (Ga.) en route to a 19-2 season. Lundstedt played a key role in her squad’s win over Milton, with two goals, an assist and 12 draw controls. She was also tasked with shutting down Milton star Ella Pauley and outmuscled Lillian Katula for draw controls.
Coach Pam Maskino said she was the best player on the field in that game.
She then scored three goals and added two assists in the state championship, while locking down Blessed Trinity’s Hannah Daley.
“Jenna Lundstedt was the undeniable difference maker for Cambridge this season, showcasing elite dominance in every phase of the game,” Maskino said. “She consistently set the tone for our team, winning an incredible 78 percent of her draw attempts. But Jenna’s impact went far beyond the stat sheet. She was the engine that powered Cambridge’s possession game, and her relentless defensive pressure shut down some of the top offensive threats in the state.”
Lundstedt is headed from the East Coast to the West Coast. She'll play collegiately at USC.
