Northport, Ridgewood, La Costa Canyon New to Girls' Public School Top 25
Three teams, all from different regions, are new in a week that saw minimal changes to the USA Lacrosse Public High School Girls’ National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration.
Northport (N.Y.) leads the newcomers at No. 11. The Tigers have outscored opponents 83-20 on their way to a 5-0 start.
Ridgewood (N.J.) has made noise in the midst of a beast of a week. The Maroons opened with a convincing win over private juggernaut Oak Knoll (N.J.), then they handed Chatham (N.J.) their first in-state loss (their only other loss came at the hands of No. 1 Darien), and face Summit (N.J.) today in another key matchup before taking on another talented private school, red-hot Sacred Heart Greenwich (Conn.).
La Costa Canyon (Calif.) earned a crucial out-of-region win over previously ranked New Trier (Ill.). La Costa's only loss this year came against Pennsylvania power Agnes Irwin (Pa.). They've won four games against solid competition since that loss.
Among the teams that remain largely in the same spots as a week ago, Darien (Conn.) upheld its No. 1 spot with a tight 10-9 win over Garden City (N.Y.). Conestoga (Pa.) and Springfield-Delco (Pa.) added three more wins apiece. Manchester Valley (Md.) kept its unbeaten mark with a Top-25 win over Marriotts Ridge (Md.). Nyack (N.Y.) puts its unbeaten record to test against New Canaan (Conn.) this week. Garden City faces Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) in another marquee matchup this week.
While Northport and Ridgewood debuted in their respective Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regions as well, the Midwest has three teams debuting in its Top 10 and the West has one. Three teams from three different states are new to the Midwest, led by 6-0 Mariemont (Ohio). Edina (Minn.) earns a spot with a big first week and Hudson (Wisc.) is unbeaten as well. West Linn (Ore.) jumps into the West rankings after winning seven straight games, including dominating previously ranked Wilsonville (Ore.).
By focusing exclusively on public school programs, these USA Lacrosse National Top 25 and Regional Top 10 lists (also found here in our rankings hub) highlight the best teams that have built powerhouse rosters through local development and strong grassroots efforts.
Compiled by USA Lacrosse writers with input from coaches around the country, rankings and records usually reflect results as of previous Tuesday.
