A few teams ranked in the USA Lacrosse High School Girls' National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration, have opened up play. That's only heightened anticipation for a fuller schedule around the country.
There are just two changes from the preseason rankings on the national scene. With one of last year's dominant South Region teams (Cambridge, Ga.) off to a tough start, it opened a spot in the rankings.
That spot goes to Academy of Notre Dame (Pa.), led by top-ranked 2027 recruit Riley Davis and Boston College commit Keira McHugh. The Irish have a chance to prove themselves in the first week of the season with a matchup against Episcopal (Pa.), which is 2-0 on the heels of last year's unbeaten season.
The South has already been delivering dynamite games. American Heritage-Delray (Fla.) held off IMG Academy (Fla.) to remain undefeated through eight games. South No. 2 Milton (Ga.) has also gotten off to an unbeaten start, and both teams are hoping to make more national noise. For now, they're the only two teams in the National Top 25 with more than two games played.
McDonogh (Md.) defeated Stone Ridge (Md.) in an early test. The Eagles' experience showed while Stone Ridge slipped one spot as it continues to reload. With more teams set to begin their regular seasons, more intriguing matchups are ahead.
Compiled by USA Lacrosse writers with input from coaches around the country, rankings and records reflect results as of previous Sunday.
