Coming off an undefeated championship season, Coronado (Calif.) is ranked No. 1 in the USA Lacrosse High School Girls' West Preseason Top 10. Here are the teams to know and players to follow throughout the region.
The first in-season update to the West rankings will be published March 3.
1. Coronado (Calif.)
Coronado’s perfect 19-0 record included a 2025 CIF San Diego Section Open Division title, showing their dominance throughout the spring before closing out the season without a blemish. The Islanders’ ability to score in bunches while limiting mistakes has been a staple of their success. With most of that championship core returning, Coronado enters 2026 as the benchmark in the West, and early non-league tests will give a clearer picture of how they stack up nationally.
2. Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.)
Sacred Heart Prep’s strong 18-2 campaign featured sustained offensive firepower and grit in tight matchups. The Gators are poised to build on that momentum in 2026, and a high-profile early clash with Coronado should be one of the season’s early barometers for both teams.
3. Valor Christian (Colo.)
Valor Christian celebrated its first-ever Colorado state girls lacrosse championship in 2025, capping a near-perfect season and staking its claim atop the Colorado ranks. With that title experience and a strong core back, the Eagles enter 2026 eyeing another deep postseason run and more meaningful tests against out-of-state rivals.
4. St. Ignatius (Calif.)
St. Ignatius finished with a solid 17-5 record against a tough California schedule, often hanging with highly ranked competition. Their experience in close games should serve them well in 2026, where they’ll be looking to flip tight losses into signature wins and climb further up the West rankings.
5. Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.)
Foothill-Santa Ana closed its season with 20 wins, blending efficient offense and timely defense. The Knights went deep into the CIF Southern Section playoffs, defeating quality opponents en route to key victories. That blend of experience and returning talent sets them up to once again compete for section and regional honors in 2026.
6. Redwood (Calif.)
Redwood’s 19-4 slate reflected consistency and a balanced attack that frequently kept games close. The Giants should return much of their core for 2026, giving them a chance to turn a handful of close losses from 2025 into wins and make another push through the Northern California scene.
7. San Ramon Valley (Calif.)
San Ramon Valley ran a rugged schedule and nearly always stayed competitive, blending steady defense with opportunistic scoring. That profile gives the Wolves plenty to build on, and in 2026 they’ll look to seize momentum early in league play to set up a postseason run.
8. Evergreen (Colo.)
Evergreen’s two-loss campaign was marked by disciplined play and strong transition lacrosse, particularly in Colorado competition. Looking ahead to 2026, the Wolves’ returning experience will be vital if they hope to repeat as one of the top squads in the state and push for another title run.
9. Mira Costa (Calif.)
Mira Costa rode an efficient 18-1 record through the season, including key wins in Southern California. The Mustangs’ lone loss came in a competitive playoff environment, and with much of that strong group back, they should once again be among the teams to watch in 2026 as they chase both section and West Region success.
10. Jesuit Portland (Ore.)
Jesuit’s dominant Oregon run, laced with just one loss all year, earned them a well-deserved spot in the West Top 10. Their control on both ends of the field makes them a tough out, and as they head into 2026, the Crusaders will be aiming to carry that regional dominance into non-conference games that could boost their national profile.
