Four Names Added to USA Men's Atlas Cup Roster

SPARKS, Md. – Four new players have been named to the United States men’s roster for The Atlas Cup as a result of injuries. Joining the U.S. for the event, which features the men’s and women’s national sixes teams from Canada, the Haudenosaunee Nationals, Puerto Rico and the United States, will be Matt Brandau, Ryan Drenner, Zach Geddes and Mic Kelly.

The Atlas Cup begins on Friday, Sept. 26 at USA Lacrosse headquarters and runs through Sunday, Sept. 28. The events features fan zones, food trucks, custom merchandise, exclusive gate giveaways and interactive in-game entertainment while offering fans an up-close personal experience with the biggest names in the sport. All games will be streamed live on the USA Lacrosse YouTube channel with the chance for viewers to win cash prizes just watching.

Brandau, who was already selected for the this week’s U.S. national team training camp and will compete with the U.S. at the Super Sixes in Canada next month, is one of the veteran sixes players in the national team program having won a silver medal with the U.S. at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Ala. Brandau was a second team all-pro in the Premier Lacrosse League this season with the Maryland Whipsnakes after scoring 22 goals in the regular season. He was the Ivy League Player of the Year in 2024 and set Yale’s all-time marks for career goals (198) and points (360).

Drenner has played on multiple U.S. training teams in recent years and is a five-time all-star in the PLL. He won a championship with the Whipsnakes in 2019 and scored 18 goals with the Cannons this past season. Over the course of nine professional seasons, including two in the MLL, he’s scored 121 goals with 37 assists. He had a career-high 25 points with the Florida Launch in 2018 and a PLL-high 24 points in 2023 with the Cannons when was named a second team all-pro. He earned All-America honors twice at Towson, finished his career with 172 points (92g, 80a) and helped the Tigers to the NCAA semifinals as a senior in 2017.

Geddes played with the U.S. field team at the Fall Classic in 2023 and has emerged as one of the top shortstick defensive midfielders in the PLL. He was an all-star in 2024 and also named a second team all-pro that season with the Chaos. He moved to the Denver Outlaws this year and helped the Outlaws reach the PLL championship game. Geddes was a first-team All-American as a senior at Georgetown in 2022 when he had a career-high 10 points as a defensive midfielder. He also earned honorable mention honors in 2021.

Kelly will be making his U.S. team debut after completing his rookie season in the PLL with the Boston Cannons. Kelly was a USA Lacrosse Magazine third team All-American at Denver this spring, scoring a career-high 27 goals out of the midfield. Over his final three seasons with the Pioneers he had 61 goals and 29 assists
