Army needed to bounce back its first loss of the year, a 12-6 stumble against Colorado, and midfielder Brigid Duffy made sure the Black Knights could easily put it in the rearview mirror.

She had seven goals and one assist in an 18-10 win over Fairfield last week before coming back three days later to produce five goals and two assists in an 18-8 win over Boston U.

Throw in six ground balls, four caused turnovers and 13 draw controls over two games, and Duffy is deserving of USA Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.

On the season, Army is 5-1 and on the cusp of entering the USA Lacrosse Top 20. Duffy has 27 goals, nine assists, 21 ground balls, 14 caused turnovers and 36 draw controls.

DIVISION II

Marissa Zeno, Maryville

A first-year transfer from Louisville, Zeno helped power No. 5 Maryville's high-octane offense in a pair of dominating wins. Zeno tallied a career-best 12 points (5G, 7A) in a win over Concordia-St. Paul, then she added three more goals later in the week in a victory against Northern Michigan.

The junior midfielder also had eight draw controls, six ground balls and four caused turnovers in the two games, as the Saints improved to 5-1.

DIVISION III

Grace Battle, Gettysburg

The freshman played heroine for the Bullets.

In the team’s top-five showdown against Salisbury, Battle scored five goals, including Gettysburg’s final three of the game. The final goal was the winning score in overtime, giving Gettysburg a 12-11 win and a 4-0 record.
