North Carolina, which has held the No. 1 ranking in the nation since April 7, ends the year atop the USA Lacrosse Division I Women's Top 20 following its fourth national championship in program history.
The Tar Heels completed an undefeated spring with their 12-8 win over Northwestern in front of a record crowd at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., and there's a real chance UNC will get used to sticking at No. 1 for the next few years.
Jenny Levy's underclass depth was remarkably poised during the title run, setting the stage for a possible golden era in North Carolina women's lacrosse.
Checking in at No. 2 is Northwestern, which topped Boston College in the national semifinals to advance to its third straigth title game. The Eagles, who missed the national championship game for the first time since 2017, are No. 3. Florida, the fourth semifinalist, is fittingly No. 4.
