Matt Higgins, Boys’ Latin (Md.)
The lone returning starter for the Lakers, Higgins’ experience and playmaking came up huge in the first week of the season. The versatile attack provided a pair of game-winners to open his senior year. Tied 7-7 with St. John’s (D.C.), Higgins’ goal with 1:38 left gave the Lakers an 8-7 win. He finished with a pair of goals and four assists.
Three days later, Boys’ Latin trailed Gonzaga (D.C.) 9-8 when Higgins scored with 45 seconds left to force overtime. Then, he notched the game-winner off the opening faceoff of double overtime for a 10-9 win. It was his fifth goal of the game to go with an assist.
Committed to Maryland, Higgins scored four more goals Wednesday in a close loss to Malvern Prep (Pa.), the No. 1-ranked team in the country, at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.

Luke Mauser, Episcopal Dallas (Texas)
Episcopal Dallas has had a busy stretch playing seven games in 11 days, which included several of Texas’ top squads. Senior defender Luke Mauser has done his part shutting down opposing teams’ offenses. Versus Westlake (Texas) he had six ground balls and caused three turnovers. He also had four ground balls and three caused turnovers against McCallie (Tenn.). Mauser is committed to Mercer.

Andrew Toubin, St. Margaret’s (Calif.)
Junior attackman Andrew Toubin combined for 11 goals, six ground balls and three assists in St. Margaret’s first two league matches of the season. Toubin is also a member of the Tartans’ varsity football team.
