NORTHEAST

Johnny Calabria, Sachem North (N.Y.)

Johnny Calabria has been a central figure in a historic season for Sachem North (N.Y.), and Saturday’s Suffolk Class A championship game at Stony Brook’s LaValle Stadium was no different.

The junior attackman, a Bryant commit, scored four goals and added a pair of assists to lead second-seeded Sachem North to an 11-7 win over No. 1 Northport (N.Y.).

It’s the school’s first lacrosse title and first for Sachem since 1995, before the split into Sachem North and Sachem East (N.Y.).

“Johnny has been the guy for us all season,” said Sachem North coach Anthony Muratore. “We didn’t expect anything less from him Saturday. His performance was what we needed."

Sachem North advances to the Long Island Class A title game, back at Stony Brook, to face either Syosset (N.Y.) or Massapequa (N.Y.). John Calabria, Johnny’s father, coaches Syosset.

Also notable: Scout Callahan, Fairfield Prep (Conn.); Bret Kennedy, Somers (N.Y.); Tommy Leder, Manhasset (N.Y.); Nate Maurillo, Staples (Conn.); Gianni Passaro, Wantagh (N.Y.); Sean Richman, Bayport-Blue Point (N.Y.)

MID-ATLANTIC

Luke Valerio, Springfield-Delco (Pa.)

The rivalry between Radnor (Pa.) and Springfield-Delco is one of the best in the country. They are two of the best public programs and whether they meet in the regular season or their district or state tournament, it’s a must-watch. Their District 1 AAA championship was no different. Springfield held an early lead that it took into halftime, only to see Radnor rally to take the lead midway through the third quarter.

Valerio, who had been working from X throughout the first half, moved to the right wing and found some passing lanes against Radnor’s vaunted zone defense. Two of the Penn State commit’s five assists on the day then helped the Cougars regain the lead that they would not relent. Valerio ended up with a goal and five assists to give Springfield a 10-8 win over Radnor for their fourth district crown in six years. Radnor has won the last six regular-season meetings, including a 7-4 win this year. But the Cougars have won five of their six district matchups in that same stretch. The two are on opposite sides of the AAA state tournament and could meet again in the finals.

Also notable: Brad Barber, Springfield-Delco (Pa.), Teddy Curry, Radnor (Pa.); Brady Derr, Boonton (N.J.); Colin Donohue, Cardinal O’Hara (Pa.); Cooper Glass, Twin Valley (Pa.); Aaron Goldstein, Penncrest (Pa.); Carson Patti, Penncrest (Pa.); Brady Peterson, Independence (Va.); Jason Rubincam, Ridley (Pa.); Ty Rush, Springfield-Delco (Pa.); Justin Walters, Monroe (N.J.); Tate Whittaker, Hanover (Va.); Cooper Woodring (Va.); Eli Ziv, Pingry (N.J.)

MIDWEST

Ike Stitle, Carmel (Ind.)

Stitle capped his senior season with a remarkable performance in the state title game, scoring five of the Greyhounds’ goals in their 15-11 victory over the Culver (Ind.) varsity. That put Stitle at a team-high 60 goals on the season as the Siena commit easily averaged a hat trick (3.5 goals per game). So ended a year in which Stitle had a hat trick in nine straight games at one point, including six goals apiece against Forest Hills Central (Mich.), North Central (Ind.), Westfield (Ind.) and Wheaton Academy (Ill.).

Also notable: Justin Bishop, MICDS (Mo.); Evan Coulter, Carmel (Ind.); D.J. Frazier, St. Xavier (Ohio); Aiden Joly, Upper Arlington (Ohio); Brady Schneider, Stillwater (Minn.); E.B. Warren, Carmel (Ind.)
