NORTHEAST

Gio Massaro, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.)

Massaro saved his best for last.

In his final game for St. Anthony’s, the senior attackman had arguably his best game, scoring three goals and dishing out a pair of assists to help lead the Friars to a come-from-behind 16-12 victory over rival Chaminade (N.Y.) and a sixth consecutive NSCHSAA Class AAA title. The St. Bonaventure commit, who was named game MVP, was instrumental in helping St. Anthony’s rally from a 10-7 halftime deficit, playing a starring role in a six-goal run in the third quarter that turned the moment.

“I wouldn’t be able to do it without the boys,” Massaro said after the game. “It was a great win, overall a great effort. It’s just what we do — fire away.”

Also notable: Matthew Becker, Holy Trinity (N.Y.); Charlie Brady, Rye (N.Y.); Zachary Fishman, Commack (N.Y.); Cole Garrett, New Fairfield (Conn.); Brandon Penn, Ridgefield (Conn.); George Persinger, Darien (Conn.); Nick Reich, Pleasantville (N.Y.)

MID-ATLANTIC

Peyton Forte, Calvert Hall (Md.)

Calvert Hall was down to its final chance when it moved the ball quickly up the field to Forte. The senior attackman already had a hat trick on the night, and he added one more in the most critical of times to tie the MIAA A Conference championship game with 13 seconds left in regulation to finish the comeback from a three-goal deficit at the start of the fourth quarter.

In overtime, it was his feed that made the difference, a perfectly executed give-and-go that he gave to Jackson Mitchell at the doorstep for the game-winner in a 10-9 thriller over top-seeded Archbishop Spalding (Md.). Forte also had a hat trick in their 12-10 semifinal win over McDonogh (Md.), the three-time defending conference champions. Forte’s performances enabled 16-2 Calvert Hall to avenge both of their regular-season losses to finish with the program’s sixth MIAA title. Forte finished the season with 72 points on 53 goals and 19 assists. He had 22 ground balls as well and shot 43 percent. He will continue his career at Navy.

Also notable: Chase Aquino, Hill School (Pa.); Hudson Arrup, Towson (Md.); Matthew Beachley, DeMatha (Md.); Luke Caldwell, Hopewell Valley (N.J.); Bryce Coletta, Perkiomen Valley (Pa.); Robert Herrington, Gill St. Bernard’s (N.J.); Chase Houser, Delbarton (N.J.); Brady Kushner, Don Bosco (N.J.); Evan Large, Haverford School (Pa.); Luke Lydon, Rumson-Fair Haven (N.J.); Ian Swartzendruber, Fallston (Md.), Noah Zimmerman, Saints Peter & Paul (Md.)

SOUTH

Cole Greenfield, Lambert (Ga.)

It was a championship-type performance for Cole Greenfield, who helped Lambert to an undefeated season that culminated in a state title. The senior attacker scored five goals as his Longhorns blanked South Forsyth (Ga.) 12-0. His five-goal performance followed a hat trick he provided during last week’s state semifinal. He will be headed to Long Island University in the fall.

Also notable: Blake O’Neal, Roswell (Ga.); Cade Sturdivant, Montgomery Bell (Tenn.)

— Justin Boggs

MIDWEST

Tay Rodriguez, Culver Academy (Ind.)

Jon Birsner has coached in a lot of championship games for the Eagles. He’s never seen anything like what Tay Rodriguez did in Culver’s 24-11 win over Hill Academy (Ont.) as the Michigan commit went 20 of 22 from the X with five goals and an assist in the National Prep Championship. As Birsner wrote, “I’ve never seen a FOGO with that stat line in a rival big championship game in my life.”

Also notable: Henry Saylor, Shawnee Mission East (Kan.); Drew Stocco, Edina (Minn.); Zack Toll, Culver Academy (Ind.); Draden Torline, Rockhurst Jesuit (Mo.)

— Jonah Rosenblum

WEST

Ross Jacobsen, Torrey Pines (Calif.)

Dartmouth-bound Ross Jacobsen helped lead Torrey Pines (Calif.) to its seventh straight CIF San Diego Open Division Championship in a 13-8 victory over La Costa Canyon (Calif.). The junior attack and three-time state champ recorded six points against the Mustangs and was named the championship game MVP.

Also notable: John Barnd, Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.); Wesley Foa, Arapahoe (Colo.); Jake Holmes, Marin Catholic (Calif.); Cole Loizu, Torrey Pines (Calif.); Holden Luong, Valor Christian (Colo.); Ollie Nolting, Cherry Creek (Colo.); Nicholas Pangborn, Arapahoe (Colo.); Brendan Strader, Mater Dei (Calif.); Tanner Warne, Marin Catholic (Calif.); Max Wong, Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.)
