NORTHEAST
George Persinger, Darien (Conn.)
The last two times Darien met Fairfield Prep (Conn.), the Blue Wave lost — in the CIAC Class LL final last year and in the season opener in early April. Persinger made sure that trend ended on Saturday. The senior goalie was outstanding in leading Darien over Fairfield Prep in the CIAC Class LL quarterfinals, with the St. Lawrence commit making 12 saves in a 12-5 victory. Persinger only gave up three even-strength goals as Darien moved on to the semifinals to take on New Canaan (Conn.).

MID-ATLANTIC
Scott Conte, Don Bosco (N.J.)
The senior FOGO remembered losing badly to Delbarton (N.J.) as a freshman and sophomore, and he wasn’t going to miss out on helping the Ironmen exact some revenge. He wasn’t letting anything stop him in his final chance, even a bad cut to his chin sustained early in the third quarter.
Conte was instrumental to Don Bosco’s comeback. After trailing 4-1 after a quarter, Conte won 11 of 13 at the faceoff X over the final three quarters and scored the go-ahead goal as the Ironmen came back for a 10-7 win over Delbarton in the Non-Public state tournament semifinals June 6. He was 14-for-20 overall in the game against a trio of accomplished Delbarton FOGOs. Conte, who has won 67 percent at X over his career, is committed to play at Delaware. First, he’ll look to help Don Bosco repeat as champions against Seton Hall Prep (N.J.).

MIDWEST
Danny Holt, Brother Rice (Mich.)
The All-American was strong, per usual, at the X, winning 11 of 19 faceoffs in Brother Rice’s thrilling state championship game victory over Detroit Catholic Central. The Vassar commit has been that way all season, winning 334 of 436 (77 percent) faceoffs, and really has been that way his entire career, winning 943 of 1,295 (73 percent).
