The USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25 has one new team and a few key moves, all courtesy of late-season matchups that carry weighty consideration. New to the Top 25 is Glenelg High (Md.), a strong public school program that snapped a 36-game winning streak by Manchester Valley (Md.) to slide in at No. 23.
Meeting in the middle of the rankings are Agnes Irwin (Pa.) and Episcopal (Pa.). They could see each other a third time soon, but Agnes Irwin has won each of the first two meetings after a shaky start to the season. The losses are the only ones of the year for Episcopal, which owns a high-quality win over No. 4 McDonogh that keeps the Churchwomen in the top half of the rankings.
Further down is another change after Hotchkiss School (Conn.) dropped behind Sacred Heart Greenwich (Conn.) after suffering its first loss of the season. Sacred Heart Greenwich may have benefited from facing a few more of the higher-ranked teams than Hotchkiss.
Four unbeatens remain with Good Counsel (Md.) and Colorado Academy (Colo.) successfully finishing perfect seasons. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) and Sayville (N.Y.) have a chance to do so also, but both will need title runs to close the year.
