The Polar Bears were anything but cold on Saturday.
Bowdoin shot 19-for-59, and Jason Lach scored eight goals (on 8-for-13 shooting) to bury Christopher Newport 19-11 in one of four Division III men's quarterfinals on Saturday.
By roaring out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, Bowdoin had the Captains playing from behind off rip. And while the Captains did score twice before the end of the opening frame, Bowdoin shrugged it off to push the lead to 10-2 early in the second quarter.
By the end of the third quarter, it was 15-6.
Six scorers combined for Bowdoin's 19 goals, and Casey Ryan led the team with four assists.
A four-goal lead with 4:10 to go was enough for Dickinson to withstand a late RPI push in an 11-9 win for the Red Devils.
Dickinson never trailed after Luke Whalen scored early in the second quarter to make it 3-2, but RPI hung around and continued to threaten.
Ramsey Huggins and Landen Hyatt both produced hat tricks for Dickinson, and Rocco Bognet made nine saves.
