Duffy, Firth, Kabiri, Lyght, Spallina Named Tewaaraton Award Finalists

On Tuesday, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced the five men's finalists for the 2026 Tewaaraton Award — Owen Duffy (North Carolina), Willem Firth (Cornell), Nate Kabiri (Princeton), Shawn Lyght (Notre Dame) and Joey Spallina (Syracuse).

The award will be presented live on May 28 in Washington, D.C.

Owen Duffy, North Carolina: The junior attackman has 30 goals and 39 assists for the Tar Heels, who are the No. 3 seed entering the NCAA tournament. Duffy has had a few single-game explosions this year, including a seven-goal showing in a rout of Harvard on March 29.

Willem Firth, Cornell: The junior attackman from Ontario has stepped up to help fill the void left by the graduation of CJ Kirst and has broken out in a big way since mid-April. He has 51 goals and 29 assists this year, including 21 goals and 11 assists since April 13 (five games).

Nate Kabiri, Princeton: Another junior attackman, Kabiri has been a key in Princeton's No. 3-ranked offense. He has 32 goals and 36 assists, and he's also picked up 28 ground balls.

Shawn Lyght, Notre Dame: The lone defenseman honored as a finalist this year, Lyght is thet nation's best eraser. The junior chipped in 20 ground balls and nine caused turnovers for a Notre Dame team that spent significant time at No. 1 in the nation and is the No. 2 national seed in the NCAA tournament.

Joey Spallina, Syracuse: The only senior finalist, Spallina set the all-time points record at Syracuse this spring and has produced 30 goals and 45 assists.
