For the third week in a row, there's a new No. 1 at the top of the USA Lacrosse Division I Men's Top 20.
It was a hectic week in Division I, as Nos. 1-3 all lost — opening the door for Notre Dame, which beat former No. 3 Georgetown 15-9 on Sunday, to take over as the top team.
The Kavanagh era is over in South Bend, but the Irish haven't skipped a beat. They pummelled Bellarmine 29-10 on Tuesday, setting a program single-game record for goals, before handing it to the Hoyas inside the Loftus Sports Center.
They've done it with a collection of offensive weapons, with seven players scoring at least four goals and five posting at least nine points.
The reason for a new No. 1 in the first place came due to Harvard's historic 13-12 upset of Syracuse. The Crimson, now up to No. 4, beat the No. 1 team for the first time in program history.

There hasn't been much movement at the top, as several teams took a little weekend staycation to sharpen up before the end of the month. But in a week of upsets across the other two divisions of men’s NCAA lacrosse, Division II made sure not to be left out of the conversation.
The biggest upset of the week came at the expense of one of the strongest conferences in Division II, the NE-10. Pace and Molloy went at one another for four straight quarters, with Pace actually taking the upper hand with a 5-1 third-quarter burst. But the fourth quarter saw the Lions roar back with a five-goal stanza of their own, wrestling the lead away from the Setters with a man-up goal from Jaden Simick to make it 12-11 with 5:52 left to play.
Pace knotted things back up at 12 with a man-up goal from Will Danowski less than two minutes later. Ironically, a penalty decided the game in overtime, as Pace defenseman Anthony Esposito was flagged for unnecessary roughness in the extra frame, giving way to the game-winning goal from Molloy’s Zach Kroog.

Three teams in the top 11 took a loss in the last week, monkey-wrenching the pecking order in the Top 20 from top to bottom.
The party started Wednesday, with Elizabethtown knocking off Stevenson in overtime. Another stunner saw Elmhurst move to 2-0 with an 11-9 win over Denison. The Big Red had been flirting with pushing into the Top 20 poll. Another upset, though of the slightly-less-shocking variety, was Cortland taking it to RPI in dominant fashion.
