Logan McNaney saved his best for the last 30 minutes against then-No. 1 Notre Dame on Saturday.
The graduate student made 11 of his 16 saves in the second half, holding down the fort on defense while the Maryland offense did just enough to beat Notre Dame 11-10. McNaney has made double-digit saves in every game of Maryland's 5-0 start and is saving shots at a 62.1-percent clip.
He also stopped Chris Kavanagh's attempt at tying it with 23 seconds left, preserving the win.
Wearing Maryland's iconic No. 1 this season, McNaney gave the Terps a bit of revenge after Notre Dame dominated them in last May's NCAA championship game. McNaney made 10 saves in that game but was constantly peppered with shots and let 15 goals in.
For his efforts, Maryland is now the No. 1 team in the USA Lacrosse Top 20.
Josh Stevens, Flagler
Sticking with outstanding goalie play, Flagler's historic upset of Rollins would not have been possible without Stevens. The sophomore made 11 saves and allowed only two goals over 30 minutes, lifting the Saints to a 13-6 win.
Charlie Johnson, Gettysburg
A big 15-6 win over Stevenson was driven by Johnson, who deposited seven goals with one assist in the victory. He added five ground balls for good measure. The sophomore attackman unleashed 16 shots, put nine on goal, and scored twice on the man-up.
