Most Career Goals for Each Current Division I Men's Lacrosse Program
Goal scoring is at an all-time high in college lacrosse since the adoption of the shot clock in Division I in 2019. The natural evolution of the game has led to gradual scoring increases over time, too. Not to mention extra years granted as a result of the COVID era of college athletics.
Naturally, that has led to a decent amount of turnover in program record books across the country. But what if we told you 20 men's players who either own or share the career goals records at their schools left their mark before 2000?
You would be even more surprised to find out that schools like Notre Dame and North Carolina have not seen records set by recent superstars.
We compiled the leading goal scorer for every current Division I men's program just in time for fall ball to signal the beginnings of another season. Keep reading for some of our most notable findings.

NOTABLE FINDINGS
- Notre Dame — Your instinct would be to ask which Kavanagh brother sits No. 1. You’d be wrong. Thirty years ago, Randy Colley set the record that still stands.
- Syracuse — Gary Gait. That name will always just stand out. It’s easy to forget how great of a player he was.
- North Carolina — For a school that’s won five NCAA championships, it feels crazy that its all-time goals leader came before the Tar Heels even won an ACC title. The top six goal scorers in school history are separated by just eight goals. It feels like it could be Dominic Pietramala's record to break soon.
- The Ivy League — The post-COVID era has surprisingly been a peak time for the Ivy League, including three of its signature programs having new all-time goal leaders within the last two seasons: Cornell (CJ Kirst), Princeton (Coulter Mackesy) and Yale (Matt Brandau).
- UAlbany — Connor Fields is just a reminder of the exceptional high-end talent that has played at UAlbany, regardless of position. The Thompson brothers, the Resetarits brothers, Blaze Riorden, TD Ierlan — just an amazing run over of stars over the last two decades.
- Navy — It's been more than 75 years since James Chambers set the Navy goals record in 1949. Navy records didn't even track assists then.
- The all-time record — Since Justin Guterding became the all-time leader in 2018, the record has fallen three more times. Mac O'Keefe set the mark in 2021, then Payton Cormier broke it in 2024 and CJ Kirst became the all-time leader in 2025.
