Inside Lacrosse reported Wednesday that Syracuse attackman Trey Deere is likely to miss the entire 2026 season following injuries he sustained during a car accident. The report said the accident occurred prior to his return to Syracuse for the spring semester.
The junior figured to take on a larger role this season for Syracuse, which enters the season ranked No. 2 in the USA Lacrosse Division I Men's Preseason Top 20. It is now possible Deere will take a redshirt year, though it was immediately unclear the extent of his injuries.
The 6-1 junior from Kahnawake Mohawk Territory in Quebec, Canada, played both attack and midfield for the Orange during their run back to championship weekend in May. He produced 19 goals with two assists but was an asset on extra-man opportunities, scoring a team-high seven goals.
Deere also scored three goals on three shots in the NCAA tournament.
Inside Lacrosse noted that Syracuse head coach Gary Gait is expected to speak with media on Thursday as part of his weekly media availability. It is possible more information will be revealed then.
