Choate (Conn.) Athletics

It's that point in the season in which all the regions are in vastly different places. The Northeast Region is seeing slides with some outstanding early matchups. The Mid-Atlantic is reacting to a lot of in-conference meetings with programs so familiar with each other. The South Region is unchanged with half the teams entering the playoffs. The Midwest has teams just beginning play and making quick impacts. The West is winding up for playoff action and peaking teams are on the rise in the latest USA Lacrosse High School Boys' Regional Top 10 rankings, presented by CWENCH Hydration.

Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) continues to pace the Northeast, but Brunswick's (Conn.) impressive out-of-state wins are gaining attention and earned it a bump to No. 2. Choate (Conn.) is new to the region ranks after handing Deerfield (Mass.) just its second loss of the season. Choate has ripped off six straight wins.

Two teams enter the Mid-Atlantic. La Salle (Pa.) earned enormous wins out-of-state (St. Anthony's, N.Y.) and in-state (Radnor). La Salle is joined by a Loyola Blakefield (Md.) team hitting its stride since the start of conference play. The top teams in the region suffered losses mostly out of region to hold their spots regionally, while falling somewhat nationally.

Half the teams were off in the South, as Florida already started playoffs. There were no changes, as none of the ranked teams in the region lost a game. Highland Park (Texas), Episcopal Dallas (Texas) and The Woodlands (Texas) added to their win totals.

The Midwest saw its first change in two weeks. Glenbard West (Ill.) is off to an impressive, perfect start against stiff competition to enter the rankings. Just behind is a Stillwater (Minn.) team that took on another Minnesota giant and came out on top. Upper Arlington (Ohio) also moved up with a key Top-10 win.

Mount Si (Wash.) has lost just once, and that came outside the United States. Its 10 wins helped earn a place in the West rankings for the first time this season. Otherwise, the region is unchanged despite some losses from the top teams — all of which went outside the region to take on elite competition.

See how this week's Top 10 updates for high school boys' lacrosse in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West regions changed, complete with recaps of the teams' recent and upcoming action.

Compiled by USA Lacrosse writers with input from coaches around the country, rankings and records reflect results as of previous Sunday.

NORTHEAST Top 10

It's the Northeast region, but Brunswick (Conn.) has been feasting on highly regarded Mid-Atlantic teams. That trend continued with Brunswick edging Lawrenceville (N.J.) and Episcopal (Pa.) to further pad its resume. Deerfield's (Mass.) loss to Choate (Conn.) enabled Brunswick to move up a spot to No. 2 behind unbeaten Loomis Chaffee (Conn.).

Choate's win earned it a spot in the Top 10, while Deerfield fell just one spot after a second one-goal loss of the season. St. Anthony's (N.Y.) falls one spot after splitting its week, and the Friars face another great week of out-of-region competition with Don Bosco (N.J.), a team that knocked off Chaminade (N.Y.), and Malvern Prep (Pa.) on the docket.

St. Sebastian's (Mass.), Garden City (N.Y.) and Tabor (Mass.) have maintained unbeaten records. Garden City will face Massapequa (N.Y.) and Northport (N.Y.) this week. Both have just one loss.

Our Northeast rankings cover Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

1. Loomis Chaffee (Conn.), 6-0

OJ Ika had four goals and five assists, Milki Conway-Reppert (Dartmouth) had three goals and one assist, and Hayden Goozh (UPenn) went 11-for-14 from the faceoff X and scored a goal and added an assist in a 16-6 win at Berkshire (Mass.). Kent (Conn.) and Avon Old Farms (Conn.) are coming up this week. Previous: 1

2. Brunswick (Conn.), 5-2

3. Deerfield (Mass.), 4-2

Two losses by two combined goals. After a 9-8 defeat late last month vs. Brunswick, Deerfield fell to rival Choate, 11-10, on Saturday in a tight, physical, back-and-forth battle. Cooper Brozek (Harvard) had three goals and four assists, Griffin Cepiel (Georgetown) scored a pair of goals, and Justin Scalzo (Georgetown) went 18-of-23 from the faceoff X for Deerfield, who takes on Taft (Conn.) on Saturday. 5. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.), 4-3

The Friars bounced back from consecutive defeats to Delbarton and LaSalle (Pa.) to defeat Staples (Conn.), 13-6. Danny Rooney (Maryland) had two goals and five assists, Charlie Cacciabaudo (North Carolina) had five goals, and Nick Zenk (Air Force) was excellent in the cage for St. Anthony’s, who hosts Don Bosco Prep (NJ) and Malvern Prep (Pa.) this week. Previous: 4

6. Chaminade (N.Y.), 7-3

The Flyers knocked off St. Ignatius (Ca.) 10-8, before defeating Fairfield Prep (Conn.) 11-9 on Saturday. Brendan Sim (Cornell) led the way with four goals, John Balsamo (Virginia) had two goals and five assists, and Finn Pizzo had two goals apiece for Chaminade, which has a 10-day break between games before hosting New Canaan (Conn.). Previous: 6

7. Garden City (N.Y.), 7-0

Ben Smith had three goals and one assist, Anthony Asaro (North Carolina) netted a hat trick, Michael Ferrucci and Jeff Finnell had two goals and one assist each, Charlie Koester (Lehigh) dished out four assists, and Brayden Robertiello (Penn State) won all 14 of his faceoffs in a 14-6 win over LaSalle (RI). The Trojans take on Massapequa (N.Y.) and Northport (N.Y.) this week. Previous: 7

8. Tabor (Mass.), 7-0

The Tabor train continued to roll along following a 19-6 victory over Rivers School (Mass.), which came on the heels of a 17-6 win at St. George’s (RI). Games at Milton (Mass.) and St. Mark’s (Mass.) are up this week. Previous: 8

9. Taft (Conn.), 7-1

In a dominant 2-0 week with wins over IMG Academy (Fla.), 16-3, and Westminster (Conn.), 15-1, Teddy Oh (Harvard) made a combined 19 saves, while the offense was paced by Brett Feldmaier (Michigan), Jake Gashi, Henry Oakey (Ohio State), and Jonah Ziv (Colgate). 10. Choate (Conn.), 6-1

Bryce Privateer (Dartmouth) scored the decisive goal, Johnny Sippel (Trinity) set the tone with three goals, Brad Mallory (Harvard) had two goals and two assists, Declan Pettit (Trinity) had a pair of goals and Mac Privateer made eight saves, including a critical man-down denial late in the fourth quarter to seal a dramatic 11-10 win over Deerfield. Also of note was the work Paul Wable (North Carolina) and Joey Swan (Colgate) did in the middle of the field, where Choate won the transition game. Previous: NR

Mid-Atlantic Top 10

Brunwick (Conn.) continues to wreak havoc on Mid-Atlantic teams, edging both No. 1 Episcopal (Pa.) and No. 2 Lawrenceville (N.J.).

Newcomer La Salle (Pa.) picked up some redemption for the region with a one-goal win over St. Anthony's (N.Y.) before adding a solid win over public power Radnor (Pa.) to vault into the rankings. La Salle is joined by another team to debut, Loyola Blakefield (Md.), which has been streaking to start MIAA A Conference play.

Loyola and Calvert Hall (Md.) are the lone unbeatens in their conference. Malvern Prep (Pa.) comes off a huge rivalry win over Haverford School (Pa.), but there's not much time to celebrate with a showdown with Episcopal to start this week.

Paul VI (Va.) suffered its first loss of the season but kept its spot with a win over a St. John's College (D.C.) team that was ranked just behind it. St. John's is one of the two teams to beat La Salle this year in what's becoming quite an intertwined region.

Our Mid-Atlantic rankings cover D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.

1. Episcopal Academy (Pa.), 8-2

Despite hat tricks from Parker Smith and Reid Dennis, Episcopal lost a tight one, 12-11, to Brunswick (Conn.). Liam Titus made 13 saves and Carson Jakuc won nine of 17 faceoffs while David Brickman had seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Brody Garriso and Jackson Orcutt had three points apiece. The Churchmen had a far easier time in wins over Germantown Academy (Pa.) and Penn Charter (Pa.). Nothing will be easy when they take on Malvern Prep (Pa.) to open the week. Previous: 1

2. Lawrenceville (N.J.), 6-2

The Big Red also suffered a loss at the hands of Brunswick, 9-8, in overtime. Lawrenceville rebounded with a convincing win over Hun School (N.J.). They will take on Blue Ridge (Va.) and Salisbury School (Conn.) this week. Previous: 2

3. Delbarton (N.J.), 8-2

The Green Wave ended a challenging week with a hard fought 11-9 loss to Culver Academy (Ind.) at Notre Dame. Jack Sheridan had a hat trick and Brandon Fodor put up four assists while Matty McGinty made 10 saves. McGinty had 13 saves, Chase Houser scored a hat trick and Fodor scored once and had three assists to help them beat St. Ignatius (Calif.) 9-7 in their first game there. They also edged by Westfield (N.J.) to start the week with Fodor pacing the offense with two goals and two assists. A matchup with Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) highlights this week. Previous: 3

4. Malvern Prep (Pa.), 8-2

The Friars won their rivalry game over Haverford School (Pa.) 11-5. Malvern built a 6-2 halftime lead and never looked back. Jamie McCracken scored twice and assisted on two goals. Brady Whalen and Conor McCarthy also scored twice apiece. TJ McDermott was 9 of 15 at X and Thomas Ploszay made 11 saves. Max DelVescovo had five ground balls. They take on Episcopal  for Inter-Ac supremacy. Previous: 4

5. Calvert Hall (Md.), 6-3

Michael Steer’s second goal with less than four minutes left turned into the game-winner as the Cardinals held off McDonogh (Md.) 14-13 to stay perfect in the MIAA A Conference. Steer was part of an absurdly balanced attack with seven Calvert Hall players scoring two goals apiece. Jack Williams, Caleb Kelly, Connor Sullivan, Adam Heuston, Hut Perdew and Banks Enrique were all part of the act. Williams also posted three assists. Nick Neavin made 13 stops. He had 10 saves and Matthew Schoonmaker sored four goals while Steer had six points in a 15-9 win over St. Joseph’s (Md.). St. Paul’s (Md.) and St. Mary’s (Md.) challenge the Cardinals this week. Previous: 5

6. Hill School (Pa.), 7-1

The Blues had no trouble in a pair of wins over Hun (N.J.) and IMG Academy (Fla.) as they extended their winning streak to six. Hill is scheduled to play April 18 against Kiski (Pa.) before seeing Perkiomen (Pa.) the next day. Previous: 6

7. Paul VI (Va.), 9-1

The Panthers dropped a tight 8-7 overtime game to Gonzaga (D.C.) for their first loss of the season. They bounded right back with an impressive 10-7 win over St. John’s College (D.C.) on April 10. Their week begins with St. Augustine (N.J.) before finishing with DeMatha (Md.). Previous: 7

8. St. John’s College (D.C.), 6-4

After a 15-2 win over DeMatha, the Cadets lost a Top-10 matchup against Paul VI (Va.), 10-7. It’s only the third time this season they’ve given up double digit goals. They take on a Gonzaga (D.C.) team that just defeated Paul VI. Previous: 8

9. La Salle (Pa.), 7-2

The Explorers enjoyed two huge wins in a perfect 3-0 week. It began with an 8-7 win over St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) behind 12 saves from Roman Ippoldo and eight faceoff wins from Rocco Davis. Will Trymbiski scored a hat trick and added an assist. Tobi Zweiback scored twice. After a lopsided win over Lansdale Catholic (Pa.), they shut down Radnor (Pa.) 7-3 Sunday. Trymbiski went off with five goals and Zweiback had four assists. Davis was 9 for 14 at the faceoff X. Previous: NR

10. Loyola Blakefield (Md.), 5-4

The Dons have won four straight games, all in the MIAA A Conference to sit atop the standings with Calvert Hall. Their latest two wins came via comeback. They trailed Boys’ Latin (Md.) 10-5 going into the fourth quarter, but rallied to force overtime before Cooper Lewis won it, 12-11. They also rallied to beat Severn (Md.) to start the week. Loyola tries to keep rolling against McDonogh (Md.) and Gilman (Md.). Previous: NR

SOUTH Top 10

The playoffs are underway in Florida to highlight the action in the region. Ponte Vedra (Fla.), Jupiter (Fla.) and St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) all opened the postseason winning handily. St. Andrew's (Fla.) and Benjamin (Fla.) start their playoff runs today.

There was no movement in the region, as every team that played won and Georgia teams Roswell and Lambert had the week off. Texas squads Highland Park, Episcopal Dallas and The Woodlands added to their win totals as their regular seasons wind down.

Our South rankings cover the region from North Carolina south to Florida and west to Texas.

1. Highland Park (Texas), 13-1

The Fighting Scots extended their winning streak to 12 games with an 8-3 win over Dallas Jesuit (Texas). Highland Park’s next game is against an up-and-coming Rockwall (Texas) squad. Previous: 1

The Eagles continue their impressive performance by winning three games in four days. ESD picked up a 21-11 win over Bellevue (Wash.), 11-4 win against Brophy Prep (Texas), and a 21-7 decision over Eastlake (Texas). Previous: 3

The Sharks opened the postseason with an impressive 15-2 victory over Bartram Trail (Fla.). The playoffs continue with a midweek matchup against Nease (Fla.). Previous: 4

5. Jupiter (Fla.), 13-3

The Hornets are in the midst of an 18-day break after toppling Milton (Ga.) on March 30. Roswell resumes play April 17 versus Cambridge (Ga.). Previous: 6

7. The Woodlands (Texas), 16-2

The Highlanders win streak now stands at seven following their 21-4 victory over St. John’s (Texas). Last Saturday’s matchup against Eastlake (Wash.) was cancelled. The Woodlands closes out the regular season April 18 versus Episcopal Dallas (Texas). Previous: 7

8. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 12-3

Ten days after a one-goal win, the Raiders had a little more breathing room to open the postseason against Coral Reef (Fla.). St. Thomas Aquinas defeated Coral Reef (Fla.) 22-0. The playoffs continue with an April 14 matchup versus Columbus (Fla.). Previous: 8

9. Benjamin (Fla.), 9-5

midwest Top 10

Culver enforced its top billing with a win over nationally ranked Delbarton (N.J.) to sweep a pair of games in the great Golden Domer Spring Classic event hosted by the University of Notre Dame. Western Reserve (Ohio) kept pace with two impressive wins of its own at the same event. Both are unbeaten atop the Midwest.

Glenbard West (Ill.) burst into the rankings on the strength of a pair of wins over Illinois state powers. The region's other newcomer is Stillwater (Minn.), which avenged last year's state championship loss to Edina (Minn.) to open its season on a high note.

In another key in-region matchup, Upper Arlington (Ohio) defeated Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio) to move up in the rankings. Upper Arlington also defeated Michigan juggernaut Brother Rice (Mich.). This week, St. Xavier (Ohio) and Carmel (Ind.) will cross state lines to face off and see whose record remains perfect.

Our Midwest rankings cover Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

1. Culver Academy (Ind.), 8-0

The Eagles picked up another signature win when they topped No. 7 Delbarton (N.J.) at the Golden Domer Spring Classic. Add that 11-9 victory to the 20 goals Culver scored the prior day against St. Ignatius (Calif.) and it’s clear the Eagles are among the nation’s best. Bryceson Lamoureux (Yale) had seven goals and four assists over the weekend while PJ Kennedy added eight goals and two assists and Max Pasquale (Boston University) excelled on defense. Previous: 1

2. Western Reserve (Ohio), 9-0

The Pioneers were similarly impressive at the Golden Domer Spring Classic, including a 12-7 win over Seton Hall Prep (N.J.), which was receiving votes in the latest national rankings. Reserve also topped one of Delaware’s best, Salesianum. Holden Satterly had five goals and two assists across the two games, Hunter Harris had four goals just against the Sals and Gentry Curtis and Colman McNamara were dominant at the X. Previous: 2

3. St. Xavier (Ohio), 9-0

The undefeated Bombers went 3-0 against in-state opponents Centerville, Milford and Hilliard Davidson, surviving a solid challenge from the Eagles for a 9-5 win. St. Xavier is yielding just 4.6 goals per game, helped by Alex Peyton’s stellar play, while midfielder Ryder Munz erupted for seven goals against the Wildcats. An intriguing week awaits as the Bombers face two of Kentucky’s best — St. Xavier and Trinity — and undefeated Carmel (Ind.). Previous: 3

4. Upper Arlington (Ohio), 9-1

To the winner goes the spoils as the Golden Bears moved past Worthington Kilbourne in the rankings following their 15-10 win over the Wolves Thursday. Luke Backes (Cornell) had a tremendous week, with four goals and an assist against Kilbourne and another hat trick against a traditional Mitten State power in Brother Rice. Previous: 5

5. Carmel (Ind.), 9-0

The undefeated Greyhounds exploded for 23 goals in their lone game of the week, a win over Center Grove (Ind.). Lincoln O’Leary and Luke Shrift scored six goals apiece against the Trojans while Ike Stitle also had a hat trick and Will Bates continued his strong play in net. Solid Zionsville and undefeated St. Xavier (Ohio) await this week. Previous: 6

6. Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio), 6-3

The Wolves’ lone losses have come against powerhouses — two top in-state foes (undefeated St. Xavier and Upper Arlington) and one from Pennsylvania (Hill School). Jackson Szabo had a hat trick against the Golden Bears Thursday while Declan Ryan added two goals and three assists. Both had hat tricks in Sunday’s 16-11 win over Hudson (Ohio) with Ryan tallying five goals and two assists. Previous: 4

7. Glenbard West (Ill.), 5-0

The Hilltoppers are off to a tremendous start, topping 2025 (and 2024) state champion Lake Forest Thursday and 2025 state runner-up New Trier Saturday. Like the Scouts, the Hilltoppers have made their name on defense, allowing four goals per game. Senior Jacob Quintos (Siena) has helped tremendously, amassing 17 ground balls and 15 takeaways through Glenbard West’s first three games. Previous: NR

8. Stillwater (Minn.), 1-0

Minnesota high school lacrosse season started with a bang as the Ponies topped Edina (Minn.) in a rematch of last year’s state title game. Perhaps most impressive, Stillwater held the Hornets to four goals. More tests loom this week as the Ponies face solid in-state opponents Cretin-Derham Hall (Thursday) and Prior Lake (Saturday). Previous: NR

9. Detroit Country Day (Mich.), 5-0

The Yellowjackets were tested coming out of their two-week break but managed to survive a couple of tough in-state road games, topping Cranbrook by two and Hartland by seven. DCDS has held all five of its opponents to single digits, helped by Michael Curis’ strong play in net. Previous: 9

10. MICDS (Mo.), 6-2

The Rams went 2-1 this week, splitting a pair of big-time clashes against in-state foe John Burroughs (a 12-6 win) and Tennessee power Montgomery Bell Academy (an 11-6 loss). Steele Crissman continued to produce at a high level, with eight goals and 12 assists across the three games, while Peter O’Leary tallied 13 ground balls. Previous: 10

West Top 10

The top-tier schools in the West ventured out of state with some mixed results. Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.) split its games against Mid-Atlantic teams. Marin Catholic (Calif.) also competed well but did not win either of its games. And St. Ignatius (Calif.) took on some premier teams that should help down the stretch. No. 8 Brophy (Ariz.) also lost a pair of top-flight out-of-state games.

Regis Jesuit (Colo.), which entered the rankings last week, remains undefeated. And the lone newcomer this week is Mount Si (Wash.), which has only lost to a Canadian school.

This week brings teams back in-region. Loyola takes on Torrey Pines (Calif.), and Marin Catholic faces De La Salle (Calif.) in key Top-10 matchups. St. Ignatius looks to get back on track against formerly ranked Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.).

Our West rankings cover the Mountain, Pacific and Northwest regions and at least part of the Southwest.

1. Loyola–Los Angeles (Calif.), 15-3

Loyola stays at the top despite a tough East Coast trip. They picked up a close win over Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) but fell to Salesianum (Del.). That follows last week’s loss to Georgetown Prep (Md.), so the record takes a hit, but the level of competition matters. They’re still playing the toughest schedule out West and remain the team to beat. Previous: 1

2. Marin Catholic (Calif.), 10-4

Marin Catholic had a challenging week against out-of-state competition. A close loss to Salesianum (Del.) and a 10-9 loss to Rye (N.Y.) show they can compete, but they are still looking for that breakthrough win. The schedule continues to test them, and that will matter later in the season. Previous: 2

3. St. Ignatius (Calif.), 9-5

St. Ignatius is in a tough stretch, dropping four straight games, all to out-of-state teams. It’s a skid, but the level of competition keeps things in perspective. Earlier wins still carry weight, and this feels more like a reset point than a major drop. Previous: 3

4. Valor Christian (Colo.), 8-2

Valor continues to take care of business locally and remains one of the most consistent teams in the region. The upcoming matchup with Regis Jesuit (Colo.) on April 21 will be one of the biggest games left on their schedule before Colorado State playoffs. Previous: 4

5. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 6-2

Cherry Creek picked up another strong local win, including a dominant result over Kent Denver (Colo.). They’ve been steady all season and continue to look like one of the top teams in Colorado. Previous: 5

6. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 7-2

Torrey Pines picked up one of the biggest wins of the week with an overtime victory over Good Counsel (Md.). Ross Jacobsen led the way and continues to close in on the program’s all-time scoring record. This is a team that looks dangerous heading into the final stretch. Previous: 6

7. De La Salle (Calif.), 10-3

De La Salle continues to bounce back after earlier losses, picking up solid wins over Colorado Academy (Colo.) and Bishop’s (Calif.). They look more settled and are starting to rebuild momentum. Previous: 7

8. Brophy (Ariz.), 14-3

Brophy had a tough road trip with losses to Dallas Jesuit (Texas) and Episcopal School of Dallas (Texas), but also picked up a strong win over McKinney (Texas). The results are mixed, but the level of competition keeps them in the middle of the pack. Previous: 8

9. Regis Jesuit (Colo.), 9-0

Regis Jesuit remains undefeated and continues to handle local competition, with wins over ThunderRidge (Colo.) and Chaparral (Colo.). The matchup with Valor Christian (Colo.) will be a major test and should give a clearer picture of where they stand. Previous: 9

10. Mount Si (Wash.), 10-1

Mount Si enters the rankings with a strong record. Their only loss came against Canada's Claremont School (Ont.), and they’ve taken care of the rest of their schedule. This is a team that has earned a spot and could move up with continued success. Previous: 8
