A light first week's schedule produced only one change to the USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration. It came after a thriller to start the season.
Avi Ruiz's fourth goal of the game was the game-winner for Bullis (Md.) as it squeaked by Good Counsel (Md.). Hill School's (Pa.) win over previously ranked St. Paul's (Md.) opened the door for Bullis to ascend one spot into the rankings.
For the second year in a row, Calvert Hall (Md.) and Malvern (Pa.) jumped out to fast 2-0 starts. Malvern did so with a top-20 win over Boys' Latin (Md.). Archbishop Spalding (Md.) and McDonogh (Md.) also opened with solid wins to reinforce their rankings.
Culver Academy (Ind.) will bring a 2-0 record into a key matchup this week with St. Anthony’s (N.Y.). The Midwest Region powerhouse won't have forgotten last year's 9-7 loss, and it's the Friars' first game of the season.
Aside from St. Anthony's, the Northeast Region won't have much action still this week. Half the ranked Mid-Atlantic teams were off and running. Boys' Latin bounced back with a narrow win over Gonzaga (D.C.). St. Andrew's (Fla.) continues to set the pace in the South, but now has a week off.
The most intriguing showdowns are teed up in the West Region, where No. 1 St. Ignatius (Calif.) heads to Colorado for a pair of ranked contests.
The season is just getting started, with a host of marquee matchups ahead. Scroll below for this week's USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25, with each team's previous ranking denoted in parenthesis.
