Highland Park Up to No. 3 in USA Lacrosse Public High School Boys' National Top 25
Coach Mike Pressler has something special brewing in Dallas.
Highland Park (Texas) is ranked No. 3 in this week’s USA Lacrosse Public High School Boys’ National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration.
The Scots have won 12 straight games since their lone loss of the season Feb. 14 vs. private school powerhouse Culver Academy (Ind.), allowing just 3.9 goals per game during an impressive stretch that includes a pair of shutouts.
Also of note this week:
- No. 1 Garden City (N.Y.) is 6-0 after a win over Rye (N.Y.). The Trojans have already taken on some of several of the top programs in the state.
- No. 2 Darien (Conn.) opened with back-to-back wins by a combined 33-4 score.
- No. 4 Summit (N.J.) edged Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) for another quality win. The Hilltoppers had already handed Radnor (Pa.) its only loss.
- No. 5 Radnor (Pa.) is back in the top five after knocking off No. 6 Springfield-Delco (Pa.) 7-4 to nudge ahead of its rival in the rankings.
- No. 7 Cape Henlopen (Del.) earned a huge win over private Bullis (Md.) before a setback against Radnor.
- The Vikings land just ahead of No. 8 Urbana (Md.), which lost to Bullis this week. Urbana faces Kent Island (Md.) this week in a top-25 showdown.
- Another early unbeaten, Manhasset (N.Y.), comes in at No. 9 with challenges looming against Rumson-Fair Haven (N.J.) and Darien.
- Severna Park (Md.), which fell just short against the MIAA’s Severn (Md.) in their neighborhood battle, rounds out the top 10. The nine-time defending state champions defeated a pair of Virginia powers earlier this season.
- Two new teams enter the national rankings. Ponte Vedra (Fla.) benefitted from Jupiter’s (Fla.) loss to Benjamin (Fla.) in a big season-ending rematch, and Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio) defeated defending Pennsylvania state champion Marple Newtown (Pa.).
By focusing exclusively on public school programs, these USA Lacrosse National Top 25 and Regional Top 10 lists (also found here in our rankings hub) highlight the best teams that have built powerhouse rosters through local development and strong grassroots efforts.
Compiled by USA Lacrosse writers with input from coaches around the country, rankings and records reflect results as of previous Tuesday.
