Toronto Rock Retool Offense in 2025 NLL Draft
The Toronto Rock made National Lacrosse League history on Saturday by making the first three selections in the NLL Draft — highlighted by the selection of CJ Kirst (Cornell) first overall.
Kirst, who was also the first overall pick in the Premier Lacrosse League Draft, was the beginning of an offense-heavy draft for the Rock, who are hoping their rebuild and turnaround happen quicker than others.
Ty English (North Carolina) was taken second by Toronto, further bolstering the offense and transition game. Then the Rock added Owen Hiltz (Syracuse) for even more depth.
The run on offensive talent didn't end there for Toronto. In the second round (20th overall), the Rock added Hugh Kelleher, Kirst's Cornell teammate. Their third-round pick, Isiah Moran-Weekes (High Point), is also an offensive talent.
All told, Toronto used six of their seven picks on offense or transition players.
