On the field he spent his early years following around his father, Dominic Pietramala had a game to remember on Saturday.
The redshirt-sophomore deposited six goals in North Carolina’s 13-12 win over Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field, where his father Dave Pietramala coached the Blue Jays to two national championships from 2001-20. He is now the defensive coordinator for the Tar Heels.
Dominic Pietramala scored three goals in each half, but his last goal was the most impactful. His tally with 10:39 left, assisted by Owen Duffy, put North Carolina ahead 12-11.
Less than a minute later, Caden Harshbarger tacked on an insurance goal that proved to be the difference.
James Sternberg, Walsh
The throwback combo-midfielder registered nine points (4G, 5A) in Walsh’s 13-8 upset win over Frostburg State. He was a one-man wrecking crew, helping the Cavaliers jump out to a 9-1 advantage early in the game.
At the very least, he also put Walsh on the rankings radar.
Brice Bromwell, Salisbury
Bromwell produced five of his eight points (3G, 5A) in the second half — including Salisbury’s final goal — to help hold off a valiant fourth-quarter comeback attempt by Gettysburg.
The senior currently leads Division III in assists with 18 across four games.
