Cardin Stoller was a big part of history on Saturday, making 14 saves and even scoring a full-field goal that iced Rutgers' 8-6 win over Maryland — the highest-ranked win in program history for the Scarlet Knights.
It was Rutgers' first win over Maryland since 1980, snapping a 19-game skid.
It was a defensive slugfest, with Rutgers racing out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. Only eight more goals were scored the rest of the game.
Stoller saved 70 percent of the shots he faced, stonewalling a Terps offense that outshot Rutgers 40-28. He is the USA Lacrosse Division I Men's Player of the Week.
A redshirt-sophomore from Owings Mills, Md., Stoller has double-digit saves in every game but one in 2025. He's saved 59 percent of shots across 12 games, ranking in the top 10 nationally.
Chris Claflin, Saint Anselm
The 5-8, 155-pound junior played well above his size in a historic win for the Hawks. They beat Adelphi for the first time in program history, and his one goal and five assists facilitated most of the action.
Saint Anselm ended a 25-game winning streak for Adelphi, the 2024 NCAA Division II champion. The Hawks were 0-19 against the Panthers until Saturday.
Nate Schilling, York
Just a freshman, Schilling was pivotal in a signature win for York. In a 20-11 win over Gettysburg, the Spartans deposited seven goals on 11 shots while adding two assists and three ground balls.
He added a pair of goals a few days later in a 12-10 win over Albright.
