Episcopal Academy (Pa.) has traditionally had a strong girls' lacrosse program. Now the boys are on the rise.

The Churchmen won a share of last year's Inter-Ac League title, their first league crown since 1998. That set expectations high for this season, and they took a huge step toward fulfilling them by defeating Lawrenceville (N.J.). Undefeated, they go from No. 10 to No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic and headline this update of the USA Lacrosse High School Boys' Regional Top 10 rankings, presented by CWENCH Hydration.

Northeast No. 1 Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) had a close call in its season opener, St. Anthony's (N.Y.) won its showdown with Chaminade (N.Y.), and Tabor (Mass.) and Taft (Conn.) picked up big wins to earn new spots in the rankings as New England Preps began play in earnest.

Episcopal Dallas (Texas) earned its biggest win of the year, crossing regions to knock off Bullis (Md.) and move up to No. 3 in the South.

Another Pennsylvania team, Hill School (Pa.), makes its debut in the Mid-Atlantic rankings after defeating St. John's (D.C.).

Detroit Country Day (Mich.) and MICDS (Mo.) enter the standings in the Midwest. Both are a perfect 3-0 early.

Marin Catholic (Calif.) made its move in the West with a win over St. Ignatius (Calif.). Valor Christian (Colo.) and Torrey Pines (Calif.) fell in tough out-of-region matchups.

See how this week's Top 10 updates for high school boys' lacrosse in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West regions changed, complete with recaps of the teams' recent and upcoming action.

Compiled by USA Lacrosse writers with input from coaches around the country, rankings and records reflect results as of previous Sunday.

Mid-Atlantic Top 10

Episcopal (Pa.) beat one blue blood, Georgetown Prep (Md.), earlier this season. It garnered even more respect by knocking off the top team in the region, Lawrenceville (N.J.), last week. The win sent the Churchmen to the No. 1 spot in the Mid-Atlantic.

Lawrenceville bounced right back to give Malvern (Pa.) its first loss of the season. Both are playing schedules stacked with talented teams.

Hill School (Pa.) entered the rankings after a key win in the region over St. John's College (D.C.). The win carried a bit more weight than their earlier triumph against St. Paul's (Md.). Elsewhere, Bullis (Md.) lost for the first time when the Bulldogs played Episcopal Dallas (Texas) without one of their top midfielders.

midwest Top 10

Two new teams entered the Midwest rankings after perfect starts. Detroit Country Day (Mich.) and MICDS (Mo.) are both 3-0. MICDS got there with a big double overtime win over previously ranked Hamilton Southeastern (Ind.). Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio) moved up on the strength of a dominant win.

Our Midwest rankings cover Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

2. Western Reserve (Ohio), 5-0

Just like their Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Association rivals, the Pioneers are on a break following a couple of early trips. 3. St. Xavier (Ohio), 6-0

The Bombers made a strong statement this week, sweeping their three-game road trip against Springboro (Ohio), Brother Rice (Mich.) and East Grand Rapids (Mich.). Remarkably, St. Xavier won all three games by double-digit margins, helped by Sam Carpenter’s 13 saves against the Warriors and eight against the Pioneers. Previous: 3

4. Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio), 3-1

West Top 10

Marin Catholic (Calif.) went toe to toe with St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) in a top-five matchup and their win helps elevate them to No. 2 this week. Both Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.) and Valor Christian (Colo.) suffered losses this week but they were out of region and did not affect them in the West standings. Loyola, Marin Catholic and St. Ignatius all have big out-of-region tests in the next two weeks that could help them on a national scale.

Our West rankings cover the Mountain, Pacific and Northwest regions and at least part of the Southwest.

1. Loyola–Los Angeles (Calif.), 14-2

Loyola keeps rolling and right now they look like the most complete team in the West. Two more wins this week and they continue to separate themselves from the pack. The offense is producing at a high level and they are controlling possession as well as anyone. They lost to Georgetown Prep (Md.) last week, but their only regional loss came in a tight game against St. Ignatius (Calif.), and since then they have responded exactly how you would expect from a top team. Previous: 1

2. Marin Catholic (Calif.), 8-3

Marin Catholic makes the biggest move of the week after a statement 9-6 win over St. Ignatius (Calif.). That result carries weight and adds to an already challenging schedule. This is a group that has taken on top competition all season, and now they have a win to match it. If they keep building on this, they will stay right in this tier. Previous: 5

3. St. Ignatius (Calif.), 6-2

St. Ignatius drops after the loss to Marin Catholic (Calif.), and now the résumé has a couple dents. They still own a strong win over Valor Christian (Colo.), but the loss to Cherry Creek (Colo.) and now Marin Catholic show some vulnerability. The talent is not in question. The next stretch will be about finding rhythm again. Previous: 2

4. Valor Christian (Colo.), 4-2

Valor slips slightly after a loss to Chaminade (N.Y.), but that result does not hurt much given the level of competition. The Eagles still have one of the stronger overall résumés in the region and remain dangerous. The upcoming games against Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.) and Cherry Creek (Colo.) will say a lot about where they belong. Previous: 3

5. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 3-2

Cherry Creek is still trying to find consistency. They picked up a win over Park City (Utah), but the earlier losses to Loyola-Los Angeles and La Costa Canyon (Calif.) are still part of the picture. At the same time, they own a win over St. Ignatius (Calif.), which keeps them right here. The next stretch, starting with Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.), is important. Previous: 4

6. De La Salle (Calif.), 7-1

De La Salle continues to take care of business and build a solid résumé. Wins over Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.) and Monte Vista (Calif.) stand out, and their only loss came against Marin Catholic (Calif.). They have been steady, and that consistency is what keeps them right in the middle of this group. Previous: 6

7. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 5-2

Torrey Pines drops a game to Highland Park (Texas), but that type of loss does more for their schedule than it hurts them. They continue to play strong competition and remain one of the more battle-tested teams in the region. There is still plenty of upside here. Previous: 7

8. Sacred Heart Prep (Calif.), 3-2

Sacred Heart Prep steadies after the loss to De La Salle and now heads into a defining stretch. Back-to-back games against Valor Christian (Colo.) and Cherry Creek (Colo.) will give a much clearer picture of where they stand. Previous: 8

9. Brophy (Ariz.), 11-2

Brophy continues to win and look consistent doing it. Both losses have come against ranked teams in Torrey Pines and Mater Dei (Calif.), and they have handled everything else. That steadiness keeps them in the Top 10. Previous: 9

10. Mater Dei (Calif.), 8-3

Mater Dei put together a strong week with wins over Kent Denver (Colo.), Mira Costa (Calif.) and Orange Lutheran (Calif.). That run helps stabilize things after a tough stretch earlier. They are trending in the right direction again. Previous: 10
