Holderness (N.H.) Jumps Into USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25
Holderness (N.H.) debuts at No. 21, while Taft (Conn.) and Bullis (Md.) return to the rankings at No. 22 and No. 25, respectively, in this week's update to the USA Lacrosse High School Boys' National Top 25, presented by CWENCH Hydration.
Holderness enters the rankings on the strength of an 8-0 start. Taft knocked off previously ranked Choate (Conn.) and Bullis (Md.) has reemerged from its rough patch. The Bulldogs have won six straight after consecutive losses in which they were shorthanded due to injuries.
They are back to playing the way they were when they stopped Good Counsel (Md.), Gonzaga (D.C.) and Haverford School (Pa.), which just beat Episcopal (Pa.) this week and earlier defeated McDonogh (Md.). Bullis held Landon (Md.) to just two goals and then edged Georgetown Prep (Md.) in another defensive gem, 5-4. The Bulldogs have sealed the top seed for the IAC playoffs.
Other notable results this past week:
— Deerfield (Mass.) flipped spots with Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) after a solid head-to-head win.
— Another key matchup went to Lawrenceville (N.J.), which defeated St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) in overtime.
— Malvern Prep (Pa.) picked up a key regional and national win over Delbarton (N.J.).
— Chaminade (N.Y.) flexed its muscle against Manhasset (N.Y.).
— Garden City (N.Y.) dropped after a loss to St. Augustine (N.J.).
— Losing to Haverford sent Episcopal down nine spots, while the Fords are knocking on the door of the top 25.
There's more in store this week. St. Anthony’s goes up against Darien (Conn.) and Haverford, St. Sebastian’s (Mass.) faces Tabor (Mass.) and Delbarton takes on Summit (N.J.).
No. 1 Culver Academy (Ind.), St. Sebastian's, Summit and Holderness are the lone unbeatens remaining among nationally ranked teams.
