Age Verification
A safer, fairer game
USA Lacrosse is committed to protecting the integrity of the game and creating the safest, fairest experience possible for every player. That starts with knowing that players are competing in the appropriate age group.
Age verification provides parents, players, leagues, clubs and event operators with confidence that players are participating in the right divisions based on their verified age. It helps create a more level playing field, supports player safety and gives the entire lacrosse community greater peace of mind.
As the national governing body and trusted expert for the sport, USA Lacrosse has established a simple, consistent age verification process for players nationwide. Rather than leaving parents, clubs or event operators to manage different verification requirements, USA Lacrosse provides one trusted standard that can be used across the lacrosse experience.
All USA Lacrosse player members, ages 18 and younger, are required to complete the one-time age verification process to maintain active membership status. Active player members 19 years old and older are strongly encouraged to complete the process as well.
This service is included in the standard membership for USA Lacrosse athlete members and is provided free of charge to the lacrosse community with no additional expense for clubs or event operators that utilize the system.

12-Month Age Group Chart
USA Lacrosse recommends that players are segmented by birthdate in 12-month groupings with allowances up to 24 months if there are not enough available players in the program to segment in one-year groupings.
15-Month Age Group Chart
USA Lacrosse recommends that players are segmented by birthdate in 12-month groupings with allowances up to 24 months. Many of the leading clubs and club event operators have chosen to implement 15-month age groupings for their tournaments and leagues.
In this system, players should play with their class grade (graduation year) as long as they fit within the birthdate parameters. Players should not play down a year from their class grade even if their birthdate would allow them to do so.
The 15-month groupings are included in the PDF available below:
