Bucknell women’s lacrosse announced that coach Remington Steele will resign, effective immediately. Steele leaves his post after two seasons, posting a 7-26 record with the Bison.

Steele arrived at Bucknell after spending a season as defensive coordinator, goalies coach and recruiting coordinator for a Furman program that finished 12-7 in its third varsity season. He also spent two seasons as an assistant at Vermont and his alma mater, Division II Limestone, leading the latter to an NCAA title game.

In addition to his college coaching experience, Steele has led multiple international teams into world championship appearances. Steele has served as co-offensive coordinator and goalie coach with the Welsh Senior Women's National Team since 2015. Wales competed at the FIL World Cup in 2017, where it finished seventh.

From 2013-15, Steele was the head coach of New Zealand's U19 National Team. He led the team to a fifth-place finish at the 2015 FIL U19 World Cup, which is the highest finish by a New Zealand team at an international competition.

As a player, Steele manned the cage for Limestone from 2009-12 — a run that included three final four appearances.

Bucknell announced that a search for Steele’s replacement will begin immediately.
