Johns Hopkins is inching closer to the top five of the USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Top 20, with the Blue Jays climbing two spots to No. 6 after a weekend in which they dispatched Georgetown to improve to 3-0.
Each of Johns Hopkins’ wins has come against a ranked opponent (at Denver, at Towson, vs. Georgetown), putting the focus on the Jays early in the season.
Delaware (No. 18) and Navy (No. 20) join the Top 20 after week one, effectively taking the places of Rutgers and Utah — both of which entered the rankings after upsets in week zero.
It was Delaware that bested the Utes, 13-12, on Bennett Parmer’s goal with 54 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Blue Hens overcame an early 4-1 deficit and leaned on Kevin Ellington, who made 15 saves.
Navy doesn’t yet have a signature win, but the Mids get rewarded for consistency. They’re 2-0 with wins over High Point and Iona, the latter a 22-9 victory on Saturday.
