A record crowd of 14,423 was on hand at Gillette Stadium to witness the culmination of one of the most dominant seasons in the history of college lacrosse.
Here are the scores, standout performances and must-see moments from the NCAA Division I women's championship game.
(1) North Carolina vs. (3) Northwestern
✅ Final: (1) North Carolina def. (3) Northwestern 12-8
🔥 Top Performers: Chloe Humphrey and Sam Forrest, North Carolina — Humphrey capped her masterful redshirt-freshman season with four goals and one assist, igniting a fire in the Tar Heels when scoring was hard to come by in the first half. Forrest, meanwhile, completely locked down record-breaking scorer Madison Taylor, holding the junior attacker to her first game without a goal since May 14, 2023, against Michigan — a streak of 45 games.
💥 Key Moment: North Carolina always had control, even if it was close, by when Eliza Osburn scored two goals in nine seconds to turn a 7-4 game into a 9-4 game with 8:22 left in the fourth quarter, it seemed like the tide had fully turned.
🦸 Unsung Hero: Delaney Sweitzer, Northwestern — What a performance by the graduate goalie. She made 17 saves, setting a single-game program record, and kept Northwestern within striking distance even as the seconds dwindled.
