Ohio State announced Wednesday afternoon that it informed Amy Bokker that she will not return as coach of the Buckeyes for the final year of her current contract.
While a search for her successor begins, Gabby Capuzzi Solomon, Bokker’s associate head coach, will be the interim head coach.
Bokker, the third head coach since Ohio State’s inception in 1996, went 23-32 during her four seasons with the Buckeyes. She went 6-18 in Big Ten play. Bokker’s teams twice finished over .500 (5-4 in the COVID-shortened 2020 season and 9-7 in 2022), but the Buckeyes struggled to the tune of a 5-12 record this spring.
Ohio State’s season ended with an 11-7 loss to Maryland in the Big Ten quarterfinals.
“I want to thank [Ohio State athletic director] Gene Smith and the Ohio State University for this opportunity,” Bokker said in a statement. “My family and I have enjoyed being a part of this spirited community during these past four years. I wish future success to the student-athlets and the program.”
Bokker has compiled a 268-193 career record over 26 seasons at a head coach. She’s also been the head coach at American, George Mason and Stanford.
