Kayla Treanor has made a major splash in her first recruiting cycle as the head coach at Penn State.
Riley Davis, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2027 according to Inside Lacrosse, will stay in the Keystone State for her college career, she announced Thursday. The Academy of Notre Dame (Pa.) is a 5-10 powerhouse with great athleticism and instincts, and her basketball IQ translates to understanding how to use space well in lacrosse. She contributes at both ends and is dominant taking the draw.
There were college basketball possibilities, too, but she told Justin Feil of USA Lacrosse Magazine last month that basketball will be put on hold for now as she pursues lacrosse.
This summer, Davis attended her first-ever lacrosse camp — making her rise to the top of recruiting boards even more unbelievable. For that reason, people around the game assume that she has hardly even started to tap into her potential.
Davis is the second five-star recruit in Treanor's inaugural class, joining midfielder Kelsey Young from Agnes Irwin (Pa.).
Since 1978, USA Lacrosse Magazine has inspired generations of lacrosse families to love this great game and leave it better for the next. We harness the power of storytelling to help fuel the sport’s growth and enrich the experience of participants.
