Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Another rankings Monday has come and gone, and there were significant changes this week.

There’s a new No. 1 at the top of each Division I poll and each Division II poll — a testament to the parity and competition over the last several weeks.

  • In men’s Division I, Maryland unseated former No. 1 Virginia in convincing fashion to take the top spot.

  • In women’s Division I, North Carolina nearly buckled in the fourth quarter against defending national champion Boston College, but the Tar Heels hung on to secure the No. 1 ranking.

  • In men’s Division II, Le Moyne lost a midweek game to Florida Southern, opening the door for a changing of the guard. Now it’s Tampa that stands as the nation’s top team.

  • In women’s Division II, there’s a new No. 1 for the third time in four weeks. Queens (N.C.) is undefeated and atop the Top 20.

  • In men’s Division III, the Mustang Classic provided ample opportunity for movement in the Top 20, with nine teams in the ranking taking part. Salisbury still holds strong at No. 1.

  • In women’s Division III, three new teams enter the mix, but Salisbury is still the unquestioned top team to this point.

2. Northwestern and Pitt were victorious Monday night.

Northwestern got six goals from Lauren Gilbert and three goals and two assists from Erin Coykendall to win its sixth straight at home, an 18-8 decision over Dartmouth.

Pitt got hat tricks from Carlie Leach and Ava Washington and 13 saves from Paulina DiFatta in a 15-7 triumph over Niagara.

3. Kyla Sears would never play anywhere but Princeton.

A Tiger through and through, Sears took a year away from the school during COVID-19 in order to maintain eligibility. She’s back in 2022, and Princeton is undefeated at 6-0 through the first six weeks of the season.
