Brunswick Ascends to No. 1 in USA Lacrosse Boys' National Top 25

The USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25 has a new No. 1.

Brunswick (Conn.) won the latest overtime thriller between the Bears and Lawrenceville (N.J.). The Big Red had won the final meeting last season, but Brunswick picked up the win in this year’s first meeting on an early overtime goal to flip spots.

Just behind them, No. 3 and 4 are up for grabs this week when Malvern (Pa.) faces Haverford (Pa.) after both have had impressive starts.

Calvert Hall (Md.) jumped up four spots to No. 8 after squeaking by McDonogh (Md.) in another high stakes game last week. Their four losses are the most of any top 10 team, but their only defeats have come against higher-ranked teams.

New Canaan (Conn.) leads three new teams into the Top 25. They are unbeaten after knocking off Ridgefield (Conn.). Another new team from Connecticut is a familiar one. Darien (Conn.) is back on target with a win over a ranked Staples (Conn.) squad and is a team that no one can take lightly.

The other new team to the Top 25 this week is Gonzaga (D.C.). The Purple Eagles stopped Bullis (Md.) in another close game.

The week ahead features more challenges for those that are fighting to remain in the rankings, and those that are trying to ascend need only to maximize their chances.
